If you like to work with youth and make in impact on their lives, then this opportunity is for you! Nature based and hands-on learning for youth ages 4yr to 18yr. Earthworks is a youth development program offered by The Center for Youth that focuses on 21st Century Skills, experiential learning, STEAM, environmental enrichment, and personal wellness. By partnering with community leaders and educators we develop programs that build healthy, lasting, bonds between land and community. Environmental science, forestry, and education are at the heart of what we do. Earthworks offers the skills and experience to facilitate safe, nature-based programs among diverse groups while helping them to develop skills and experiences that connect youth with their world and each other. Phone counselors provide support, information and referral services to callers from 6-9, Monday through Friday at The Center for Youth's office, 905 Monroe Ave. Volunteers work WITH a Center counselor offering support to callers in crisis, youth looking for emergency housing, or just someone to talk to. The responsibilities for volunteers include working a shift every other week, i.e. every other Monday evening, or just once a month. We ill work around your schedule. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, reliable, and dependable. Volunteers must pass a NYS Central Register clearance background check. Training is provided.

The Crisis Nursery and Owen's House, programs of the Center for Youth, are looking for responsible volunteers, (16 years and older) to work 1 (or more) four hour shift per month, in a child care setting. The Nurseries care for babies, toddlers and children up to age 14, serving children in Rochester and Monroe County, when the families have an emergency or crisis situation. All volunteers must pass a background check and complete necessary paperwork. Orientation/training is provided. If you like to work with kids or hold babies, then this is perfect for you! Shifts are generally: 8:00am-12:00pm, 12:00pm-4:00pm, 4:00pm-8:00pm and 8:00pm-midnight (on-call) Weekend shifts are also available. We are looking for volunteers for all shifts. You can sign up for the shifts YOU want to help us. We will work with your schedule. We use an on-line sign up with lots of flexibility. The Center for Youth is looking for a bi-lingual, Spanish speaking, tutor to assist our youth with homework and academic enrichment, possibly once or twice a week. Our tutoring schedule runs Monday - Thursday between 4pm-6pm. There is a lot of flexibility; we will work with you schedule and the student's schedule to find the best fit.
