The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. Phone counselors provide support, information and referral services to callers from 6-9 PM Monday through Friday at The Center for Youth's office on Monroe Ave. Volunteers work WITH a Center counselor offering support to callers in crisis, youth looking for emergency housing, or just someone to talk to. The responsibilities for volunteers include working a 3 hour shift every other weeks, i.e. every other Monday evening. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, reliable, and dependable. Volunteers must pass a NYS Central Register clearance background check. Training is provided.
