Description TRUU is seeking a grant writer to join our family! Grant Writer Job Description: A Grant Writer is responsible for finding funding opportunities for an organization and writing polished proposals to earn grant money. Their duties include researching deadlines, drafting grant requests and submitting reports for approval. Grant Writers generally work for nonprofit organizations as part of the development department to raise money for the organization’s mission. They search for available grants and research their requirements to find opportunities that align with their organization’s mission. Before applying for a grant, Grant Writers communicate with company leadership to confirm that they are interested in collaborating with the foundation or company offering the grant. After the research phase, Grant Writers prepare several drafts using persuasive language and facts about their organization to explain why they should receive funding and how they would use the money Grant Writer Roles and Responsibilities: Prepares proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals. Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending strategy meetings. Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal. Enters and monitors tracking data. Coordinates requirements with contributors and contributes proposal status information to review meetings. Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals. Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation. Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials. Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding and coordinating printing. Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases. Obtains approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and project managers. Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Description POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator REPORTS TO: Assistant Director EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Volunteer SALARY: Unpaid TIME COMMITMENT: 20-30 hours per week, some weekends, evenings and non-traditional hours. Position Description: The Program Coordinator oversees the coordination of program activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization and ensures that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Coordinator performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following: Program recruitment and orientation Host open house, orientation and screening events as part of the mentor and mentee recruitment process in accordance with organizational standards Collaborate with Recruitment Specialist to recruit at least 12 Mentors and 6 Eagle Merit Program Leadership Advisors from local colleges, businesses and community partners Collaborate with the Recruitment Specialist to build relationships with local participants, Lake County residents, and local elementary, middle and high schools to recruit at least 35 youth mentees Screen all potential mentor candidates through background checks and interviews Caseload management Conduct quarterly check-in meetings with youth and adult participants utilizing supervision logs and TRUU portfolios to track youth and staff progress towards goals Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the program by tracking attendance and participation data and keeping accurate, current records of participant demographics Use data to help mentors and mentees create and track monthly SMART goals Creates reports on volunteer service hours and mentor-mentee contact hours Ongoing training and support Using TRUU curriculum, plan for and deliver developmentally appropriate and engaging workshops and trainings that build leadership and organizing skills, deepen issue and community knowledge, and strengthen connections among members Plan and implement 3 feedback sessions per year for mentors Volunteer engagement and management Engage volunteers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer management practices Supervise volunteers to develop and implement youth & adult-led programming that offers multiple youth & adult leadership development opportunities Oversee mentor/mentee matching process and mentoring clusters, and execute a "Match Ceremony" event for mentors and mentees Create support services to help mentors and mentees transition out of the relationship and prepare for a new mentoring relationship Other responsibilities Develop strategies to retain mentors and mentees, including recognition programs and events Attends community committee meetings as assigned Participate in professional development and training activities as required MUST be available for the Awards Ceremony in late-April May perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Role and Responsibilities Direct supervision of all assigned staff. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or Marriage & Family Therapy is preferred from four-year College or University; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities has been achieved. Obtaining, maintaining and sharing a high level of knowledge of the most effective strategies and current thinking in the education and social-change fields - what works, what are the most effective and/or innovative ways to support the work and how to implement strategies with partners. Interacting with other education grantmakers, nonprofit leaders and public- and private-sector stakeholders active in postsecondary access and success to assess developments in the field and strategic points for philanthropic engagement. Preparing, individually and with other team members, strategy papers, grant recommendations and other written materials for the foundation’s management and Board of Trustees. Identifying grant possibilities that advance TRUU WITH THE ROBERTS strategies. Evaluating ideas submitted via in-person meetings, phone calls, letters of inquiry and/or grant proposals. Analyzing grantee reports and updates. With other team members, exploring the use of social-investment tools - such as program-related investments - to achieve program objectives. Qualifications Experience A minimum of five years of experience and senior leadership in relevant postsecondary or nonprofit education services fields is required. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the postsecondary access and success is required; a master’s degree and relevant credentialing preferred. Grantmaking experience is preferred. Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to affect change is required. Experience in working collaboratively across the nonprofit, private and public sectors is required. Skills Excellent analytical and writing skills. Effective time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak publicly and work effectively as a member of a team. Demonstrated financial-analysis skills, including the ability to analyze audited financials, balance sheets and business plans of nonprofit organizations; facility with complex financial instruments desirable. Excellent project-management skills and the ability to chart one’s own direction collaboratively. Supporting the work of TRUU WITH THE ROBERTS Ability to serve as an ambassador for the foundation externally, including the ability to undertake extensive (about 30 percent of time) domestic and, on occasion, international travel.
