Gentiva Hospice in Springfield (and surrounding area's) is looking for good people who want to volunteer and make a difference in their community. We are looking for volunteers who want to work in our office to do administrative tasks. Our Springfield office is looking for a volunteer to do tuck in calls for our patients. This is when a volunteer would call our home patients on Wednesdays or Thursdays before the weekend to find out if there is anything that the patient or family may need before the weekend. This is something that a volunteer could perform from home. No minimum time commitments required. We can work with your schedule. Most volunteers give an hour of their time three times per month. We will train you at our Springfield office. As an office volunteer you can help with copying, filing, creating binders and folders, help with bereavement mailings, work on special projects, and other duties that you feel comfortable doing.

Looking for Veteran Volunteers to provide vet to vet comfort and companionship to our patients who are Veterans and currently on hospice care. We are looking for a special group of volunteers who can provide at least 30 mins 4 times a month, to sit and talk, make a craft, sing a song, read, and just be the highlight of our patients day. Must be vaccinated. We thank you for giving your time to patients and families in our community.

We are looking for volunteers who want to work in our office, or from home doing tuck in phone calls for our patients. No minimum time commitments required. We can work with your schedule. Most volunteers give an hour of their time 1x per week for this position. We will train you at our Springfield office. As an office volunteer you can help with copying, filing, creating binders and folders, help with bereavement mailings, work on special projects, and other duties that you feel comfortable doing. To perform tuck in calls for our patients from your home this would include you spending an hour of your time per week to call our home patients on Wednesdays/Thursdays to make sure they have all that they need, supplies/medications before the upcoming weekend. You would then communicate this to myself or our nursing staff to let them be aware so that our team can make sure the patient has what it is that they need. This is something that we would train you in the office for then you would work on this weekly from your home. Help make a difference in the lives of terminally ill patients, bring joy and happiness to them, and give back to your community. All are welcome!

We can work with your schedule. Most volunteers give an hour of their time three times per month. We will train you at our Springfield office. As an office volunteer you can help with copying, filing, creating binders and folders, help with bereavement mailings, work on special projects, and other duties that you feel comfortable doing. As a patient volunteer you will be paired with a patient and will visit him/her to provide companionship in the form of conversations, sitting and watching tv/movies, playing games together, playing music for your patient, reading to your patient, doing puzzles or word games with your patient, or praying/reading the Bible or other book of faith. Whatever gifts and/or talents you have can be used to benefit our patients. You will never be sent to a patient who has Covid-19 or any other infectious disease. All patients are within one hour of Springfield. Help make a difference in the lives of terminally ill patients, bring joy and happiness to them, and give back to your community. All are welcome!
