La Romita School of Art Volunteer Position Description - Fundraising Volunteer To inspire individual creativity and artistic expression through workshops in Italy, cultural exchange, and appreciation of the arts. Project or position: Fundraising Volunteer This position will bring new skills and abilities to the La Romita School of Art (LRSA) leadership team. The overall purpose is to develop and help implement a LRSA fundraising plan to generate a reliable stream of extra-programmatic funds for operation and student support. This includes developing a fundraising plan that addresses the possibility of grants, donations, campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and fund-raising events (such as online auction of art) to create a portfolio of potential activities with significant potential for success. This high-level position requires close collaboration with the Finance, Marketing/Communications, and Operations Committees to identify objectives and resource requirements and may ultimately lead to recruiting more volunteers for specific fund-raising functional support. Tasks: Assess current fundraising efforts, systems, databases, and potential Coordinate with ED, Marketing/Communication, and Finance Committees to identify specific fundraising needs, opportunities, and gaps. Identify necessary LRSA investment (both money and additional volunteer hours) in fundraising effort Coordinate with the bookkeeper and accountant to ensure reporting compliance Write an overall fundraising plan that addresses both near-term and longer term requirements Create a calendar to coordinate tasks and activities with other LRSA schedules throughout the year Help craft the LRSA message and marketing material for all media, especially online and social media In the immediate term, identify and pursue fundraising opportunities to potentially include writing grants, connecting with potential donors, and mounting campaigns Periodically present findings to the board and facilitate board-level discussion of LRSA fundraising Advise and train Board Members and the Executive Director on fundraising processes and techniques Skills required: Previous experience developing and implementing fundraising plans for non-profits. Experience with the arts preferred. Ability to work well in teams Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision Strong communication skills, especially writing Mastery of current and emerging social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, and Instagram. Familiarity with database management Confidence to task board members and the ED when required to implement fundraising activities Setting: Work from anywhere with internet connection. Schedule and time commitment: This position will become a permanent part of LRSA operations. Time requirement will vary depending on intensity of specific requirements, but will average approximately 2 hours/week. We hope to have an improved fundraising capability beginning in the 2024 season. Training: None required beyond initial orientation to LRSA Supervision: This position will report to and coordinate through the Executive Director.

Project or position: Social Media Intern As a social media intern, you'll likely be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to managing and maintaining an organization's social media presence. Here are some common responsibilities and tasks you might expect to perform: Content Creation: Creating engaging content for various social media platforms such as Facebook. This could include writing posts, designing graphics, creating videos, or curating content from other sources. Scheduling Posts: Using social media management tools to schedule posts in advance for optimal timing and consistency. Community Engagement: Monitoring social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and engaging with followers by responding to questions, comments, and direct messages. Analytics and Reporting: Tracking the performance of social media posts and campaigns using analytics tools provided by the platforms (e.g., Facebook Insights) or third-party tools. Analyzing data to identify trends, measure the effectiveness of campaigns, and provide insights for future strategies. Research and Trends: Staying up-to-date with social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices. Conducting research on competitors and industry trends to inform content strategy. Campaign Support: Assisting with the planning, execution, and monitoring of social media promotional campaigns, including creating ad copy, selecting target audiences, and monitoring ad performance. Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with other individuals such as Managing Director and Board Members to coordinate social media efforts with overall organizational goals and campaigns. Content Curation: Finding and sharing relevant content from other sources that aligns with the organization's brand and interests. Creativity and Innovation: Brainstorming and pitching new ideas for social media content, campaigns, and strategies to increase engagement and reach new audiences. Learning and Development: Taking advantage of opportunities for learning and professional development in the field of social media marketing, including attending webinars, workshops, and industry conferences. Skills required: Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision, and interact with La Romita’s social media following in a manner consistent with our Tone, Values, and Mission. Good knowledge of Facebook and Instagram, their conventions, and specific capabilities of each platform is required. Comfort working with those platforms from a personal device is extremely helpful. Experience with Later scheduling platform is nice to have, as are skills with services like Canva. Setting: work from anywhere with an internet connection Schedule and time commitment: This position will be a permanent part of LRSA Communications. Time commitment is approximately 15-30 minutes/day, 3-5 days a week, plus a 30 minute meeting once/week. Training: Orientation on La Romita’s communications strategy and training on La Romita’s specific tools (E.G. Later) will be provided. Supervision: This position reports to the Marketing and Communications Director, but will also work with others in the organization.
