Position Overview: Please note this is an unpaid Volunteering position. Translation Commons is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Community Relations Manager to foster relationships, engage with stakeholders, and build a vibrant and supportive community around our mission of promoting linguistic diversity. This role will play a key part in strengthening connections with our global network of translators, linguists, educators, and language enthusiasts. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for community building, and a commitment to inclusivity and collaboration. You will collaborate with the leadership, product, website, and events team. Key Responsibilities: Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with Translation Commons' community members, including translators, linguists, educators, students, and language enthusiasts. Engage with community members through online forums, social media channels, blog posts, blog comments, and other communication platforms to foster dialogue, share resources, and promote collaboration. Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders to expand Translation Commons' reach and impact. Collaborate with external partners on joint initiatives, projects, and events that align with Translation Commons' mission and goals. Content Creation and Communication: Develop engaging content, including blog posts, newsletters, and social media updates, to keep the community informed and engaged. Monitor social media channels and online forums to respond to inquiries, address concerns, and facilitate conversations within the community. Feedback Management: Work with leadership, product, and website teams at Translation Commons' programs, services, and initiatives to inform continuous improvement efforts. Act as a liaison between the community and the Translation Commons internal team, conveying feedback, suggestions, and concerns to relevant stakeholders. Qualifications:. 2 years prior experience in community management, social media management, or related fields preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively Passion for languages, cultural diversity, and global communication, with a commitment to promoting inclusivity and collaboration preferred. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with a remote team. Translation Commons is currently in need of volunteers to translate and review from English into the main 5 UN languages: French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese. Translators will have full visibility and online acknowledgment. We are only looking for professional translators or language program college students. Volunteers must be over 18 years old. The material translated will be for UNESCO's International Decade of Indigenous Languages as well as our website pages on the work we do for the above. This is a great opportunity for both less experienced translators wanting to gain experience, and more experienced professionals hoping to contribute to an international volunteering organization. Craft captivating, original, engaging, shareable content and short-form video content on social media platforms viz. TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook etc. Interact with Advisors, content producers, other teams to collate, brainstorm, research topics, themes, content types Facilitate short & long form submissions using best posting practices and create online presence Moderate social media channels, foster engagement with timely responses to comments, queries and develop guidelines to build new communities Run social media campaigns in coordination with marketing, events colleagues, partner organizations and manage edits, graphics, captions, filters, final deliverables and deadlines Analyze social media data, publish social media & event calendars, editorial schedules, frequency; measure and track impact of events, partnerships, summarize on results Good to have: Internal drive and open-mind to engage within a diverse community than requiring direction Good editor's eye with familiarity in SEO, social media, web editing and proofreading Providing tactful feedback and efficiently incorporating notes from others Project management and multilingual skills are an added bonus Social Media savvy Some experience with WordPress, Canva, Adobe Suite, other social media & content tools.
