Purpose: This position supports the Regional Communications department. This opportunity requires participation in in-person activities and/or performing work in a Red Cross facility. Assist the Red Cross in delivering its mission by taking and sharing photos and/or video to showcase the Red Cross at work, both in disaster and non-disaster times. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Communications Leadership to identify and carry out ways to tell the Red Cross story visually Take photos and/or video at events, trainings and disasters in accordance with Red Cross brand standards Capture portraits, candids and/or studio shots to tell the Red Cross story of service delivery Cull, edit, caption and upload your photos/video to online sharing accounts; share select photos in a timely manner (typically same day or within 24 hours) with chapter/regional communications leadership and the social media team Share photos/video on social media, when appropriate Coordinate with chapter social media leads to share your team's videos and photos on social media or Red Cross sites. Treat all clients, volunteers and partners with dignity and respect - always obtaining required photo releases. Organize and deliver photo/video documentation, captions, quotes and photo releases. During Disasters: Work with communications team to identify daily priorities to share visual story. Deploy to the scene to seek out opportunities for photos/videos Qualifications: Storyteller education and/or experience Background in Red Cross response (training provided), branding & messaging Submission of a portfolio of news releases, video clips of on-camera work or equivalent work samples Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies Training: Orientation to the American Red Cross Public Affairs Essentials (Online) Introduction to Red Cross Communications Fundamentals of Disaster Public Affairs, National Response (Webinar) (Recommended) Social Media Basics (Recommended) We Provide all trainings! Purpose: This position supports the Regional Development/Fundraising department. Assist with research and administrative projects that help fulfill fundraising needs and annual fundraising goal. (volunteer-from-home opportunity). Key Responsibilities: Research potential donors including company's key contacts, charitable giving history, community involvement, areas of giving and contact information. Identify relationships between prospects and potential board connections. Assist with gift processing, including daily gift log, bundling, and mailing gifts to processing center. Provide information to Fundraiser or Stewardship Volunteer for follow-up. Prepare PowerPoint deck presentations for corporate donors. Print and send outgoing donor communications, such as event mailings (invitations), disaster solicitation mailings during national disaster, donor mailings for end-of-year solicitation, and postcards to steward donors (examples include postcards for Turn and Test, for Thanksgiving, or holiday postcards) Provide general office assistance as related to development, including photocopying, as well as assisting with projects and other duties as assigned. Time Commitment: 1-5 per week or monthly ( we are flexible) The time commitment is minimal as we would only call on as needed basis and during regional disasters. Qualifications: Passion for the Red Cross mission and the community Ability to work effectively as a member of the Red Cross team Knowledge of Red Cross structure, services policies, and procedures Knowledge and familiar with using research tools (example: Searching the internet to research donors) Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written Well organized, responsible, trustworthy Attention to detail Able to work in a team Ability to multi-task Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies. Purpose: This position supports the Regional Communications and Public Affairs department. Red Cross Media Relations volunteers are part of a professional volunteer team that develops and delivers the Red Cross story behind-the-scenes, on-camera, in-person and online through media channels, websites, social media feeds and other content platforms Key Responsibilities: Be on call during shifts to vet and assess media inquires, share information on smaller incidents, and notify leadership of need to scale up response. Serve as media spokesperson for local news outlets in person, over the phone or through Skype interviews. Work with chapter and regional leadership to write and pitch local stories to local media. Showcase Red Cross services and programs through earned media outreach at events, training, interviews, etc. Write and distribute media advisories and press releases. Maintain list of subject matter experts to speak with media. Maintain media log of queries, interviews and news stories. Create and maintain media lists. Protect the reputation of the Red Cross by identifying and assessing potential for harm to Red Cross brand, misinformation or information gaps. The Red Cross San Bernardino County Chapter is in need of Disaster Action Team Volunteers. Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters and assist the Red Cross in delivering mission by alleviating human suffering caused by disasters. DAT Associates respond to the needs of victims of local disasters (such as house fires)and provides them with compassion and the resources needed to meet their immediate needs (such as shelter, food, and clothes. Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the tasks involved in the Disaster Action Team program including: Supporting the annual goals, RDO objectives, and regional/chapter plan for DAT services through participation in meetings, projects, and local response activities. Completes all required training and maintains current training standards as DAT program requirements change. Attends regular team meetings and training as required by the region/territory. Completes assigned projects and local response activities according to the needs of the DAT program. (Preparing vehicles, response materials, administrative support of the DAT program and other tasks assigned by the DAT Leader Time Commitment: Time commitment varies based on availability. DAT responses may be completed in less than an hour or take as long as three to four hours. Disaster Mental Health Associates respond to the psychosocial needs of people affected by a disaster, including Red Cross disaster workers, across the continuum of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Responsibilities: Willingness to support Red Cross Mission Identifying mental health needs through individual psychological triage and mental health surveillance. Promoting resilience and coping, including enhanced psychological first aid (EPFA), individual psychoeducation, community level support, and community resilience training. Providing targeted disaster mental health interventions, including secondary assessment and referrals, crisis intervention, casualty support, and advocacy. Time Commitment: Flexible. Volunteers can work locally to respond to the needs of victims affected in local house fires, can participate in local preparations and exercises, and can deploy to help with local or national disasters. Qualifications: Must be a either: a current school psychologist, a current school counselor, a current psychiatric nurse, or a licensed mental health professional--hold a current, unencumbered license from, or is registered with, any U.S. state or territory as a social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or psychiatrist (any level license/registration, including non-clinical licenses such as Licensed Masters Social Worker or LMSW). Collaborative, assertive and flexible working style. Ability to participate and contribute to regular meetings. Demonstrates the ability to engage in constructive and proactive problem-solving.
