The Role of a Shipping Angel is to provide enough US Currency every Week so March of the Blanketeers can safely, and efficiently send materials, Thank You Notes, and Community Service Letters to our Volunteers. March of the Blanketeers' Volunteers handmake bears, blankets, cards, and hats (sometimes components too) for severely ill; babies, children, and teens (0days-19 years) Hospitalized in the US, in an eco-friendly manner. We are a Registered 501c(3) all-volunteer nonprofit organization, dedicated to the work we do, and really desperately need financial assistance! Please help us! Fellow Long Island Fabric Stores: instead of throwing out the items you no longer have use for, and out-of-season prints, please donate them directly to March of the Blanketeers. You know that just by donating them, you are not only receiving a full tax deduction, but you are helping the Earth, Nassau and Suffolk Hospitalized Children, and the environment. We can use every kind, every color, and shade of fabric, even Upholstery, and Velvet! March of the Blanketeers also accepts foam, batting, rolls of cut-off fabrics, clean paper, empty clean boxes, clean cardboard, paperboard, plastic, linen, fleece, flannel, cords, ropes, embroidery floss, and yarn! In addition to the Tax Deduction; your store will receive a Thank You Note, and a spot on our Thank You page on the March of the Blanketeers Main Website. You will also be included in a QR Code Fundraising Game, which will help you get much-needed attention for your Business. NOTE: Thursday Afternoon and Sunday evenings are usually the best times for pick-up. Bear makers will handmake cute, soft, cuddly teddy bears from either fabric or yarn. It is required that all bears are completely handmade, with the face embroidered and free from beads, buttons, safety eyes, embellishments, candy, erasers, pencils, pens, needles, unsanitary products, and anything that can be ingested either purposefully or accidentally. Bears must be "bear-colored," defined as black, brown, grey, silver, tan, and/or white, as one would find in nature, and cannot have red, or "X'd out" Eyes. If you machine sew, kits are available for free through our headquarters. Yarn is on a first-come, first-served basis as we need a constant supply of materials. Please note that March of the Blanketeers cannot provide batting due to expenses. Bears can be any size, so long as the completed work is big enough to prevent choking and aspiration and follows all rules, measurements, and requirements.
