Bear makers will handmake cute, soft, cuddly teddy bears from either fabric or yarn. It is required that all bears are completely handmade, with the face embroidered and free from beads, buttons, safety eyes, embellishments, candy, erasers, pencils, pens, needles, unsanitary products, and anything that can be ingested either purposefully or accidentally. Bears must be "bear-colored," defined as black, brown, grey, silver, tan, and/or white, as one would find in nature, and cannot have red, or "X'd out" Eyes. If you machine sew, kits are available for free through our headquarters. Yarn is on a first-come, first-served basis as we need a constant supply of materials. Please note that March of the Blanketeers cannot provide batting due to expenses.

Bears can be any size, so long as the completed work is big enough to prevent choking and aspiration and follows all rules, measurements, and requirements.

If you need community service hours, the following applies:

  • 1-2 hours: sewn
  • 12 hours: knit
  • 20 hours: crocheted
