Silverado Hospice has an ongoing need for volunteers to offer comfort and companionship during the end of life process. Volunteers act as an additional support system for patients and/or their families through the process. Simplistic, but important task such as playing the patients favorite music, reading poetry/scriptures, or sitting quietly while holding the hand of a patient, are effective dignifying kinds of interactions. Volunteers will often times sit with the patient/family anywhere from 1 to 2 hours on a weekly basis. Additionally, volunteers will receive training so each volunteer can feel confident. We have patients on services who speak many languanges: Spanish Portuguese Italian Chinese Vietnamese Farsi Korean

This opportunity is to offer socialization through activities such as conversing, Painting, listening to music and other games. This opportunity would serve the candidate would be assigned to visit 1-2x per week for 1 hours. Training will be provided by Silverado hospice, and the Memory care community. We are looking for musicians to provide companionship and musical interaction to a patient on hospice. Music is healing, why not use your musical gifts to give comfort to someone in the final days of their life. *Hospice is a level of care provided to those given a prognosis of 6 months or less to live. (North& South OC and LBC, La Mirada, Whittier and neighboring areas)

This project will be created with a garment of clothing that beloned to their loved one. This memory bear may be made with a favorite shirt, dress, jeans or blanket. Volunteers are a vital part of the hospice core team. They can offer companionship and enhance the quality of life to patients facing terminal illnesses. While Volunteers provide companionship to patients, they can be of great support to their families. We are in need of all types of volunteers with a variety of skills. One being hairdressers, help your community by visiting a patient's home to trim, or dress their hair. Giving them the opportunity to socialize and having the refreshing experience of having their hair done. This opportunity requires a background check , drug test and TB test and proof of Covid-19 vaccine.
