Silverado Hospice has an ongoing need for volunteers to offer comfort and companionship during the end of life process. Volunteers act as an additional support system for patients and/or their families through the process. Simplistic, but important task such as playing music on phone or instrument. Reading poetry/scriptures, or sitting quietly while holding the hand of a patient are effective dignifying kinds of interactions. Volunteers will often times sit with the patient/family anywhere from 1 to 2 hours on a weekly basis. Additionally, volunteers will receive training so each volunteer can feel confident. Patient need in Cerritos is to offer companionship and emotional support. Silverado Hospice is looking for volunteers that have experience in Filming/ editing video footage that results in a DVD and Thumb drive. ( DVDs and Thumb Drives provided by Silverado) Silverado Hospice offers a program called Memory Catchers. A Silverado Staff member or volunteer will interview a candidate on our service, during this meeting the candidate will share stories and details about their life and family. Your prospective role would be to edit footage n to a shortened video. The candidate will supply photos to include during video. This Memory Catcher gift, will be given to the patient and their loved ones. Making them memories to share with generations to come.
