In-School Mentoring The In-School Mentoring program provides boys and girls with a role model and friend they can talk to and share their experiences of growing up. Program subject to change depending on partner schools. The In-School mentoring program requires a one-hour weekly contact, for the duration of the school year. Programs Objectives Provide boys and girls with a role model and a friend. Promote the importance of staying in school and build healthy relationships with family and peers. Inspire self-confidence and trust in others so the child learns to make healthy decisions. Encourage leadership and independent thinking. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Community-based Mentoring program provides boys, girls and teenagers aged 6 to 15, with a role model to talk to and share the experience of growing up with. Through regular outings, a tight relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests. Throughout the relationship, both mentor and child are supported by experienced caseworkers. The experience allows both mentor and child to experience a relationship that will likely change both their lives. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Community-based Mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of 3 to 4 hours each, and a minimum of a one-year commitment. Programs Objectives: Provide boys and girls with a role model and a friend. Help youths realize the importance of staying in school and build healthy relationships with their family and their peers. Help inspire self-confidence and trust in others so the child learns to make good decisions. Encourage leadership and independent thinking. Make a difference in the life of a child while having fun.

LGBTQ2+ Mentoring - for youth who identifies with the LGBTQ2+ community As part of the broader Community-based Mentoring program, LGBTQ2+ Mentoring involves matching a young person aged 6 to 21 with a mentor, both from the LGBTQ2+ community. The goal of the program is to offer a mentor who identifies with the LGBTQ2+ community to a young person who is in questioning or identifying with the same community, in order to create a bond of friendship and support them by serving as a positive role model. The program was created in collaboration with GRIS - Montréal, L’Asterisk, Interligne and the LGBT Family Coalition, and with the financial support of the Ministry of Justice of Quebec as part of their program Fight against Homophobia and Transphobia.

Programme de Mentorat dans la communauté 3-4h / 2 semaines Ce programme de mentorat offre aux jeunes de 16 à 21 ans, la possibilité d’avoir un(e) ami(e) qui leur sert de guide, un(e) ami(e) à qui ils peuvent parler et avec qui ils peuvent partager leurs expériences de vie. Un jeune recevant des services dans le cadre de la Loi de la protection de la jeunesse (LPJ) ou de la Loi sur le système de justice pénale pour les adolescents (LSJPA) est jumelé avec un.e mentor.e bénévole. Toutes les deux semaines, ils réalisent une activité en personne ou virtuelle d’une durée de 3 ou 4 heures. La création de relations enrichissantes et déterminantes avec des mentors permettra de révéler le plein potentiel et d’outiller ces jeunes pour la transition à la vie adulte. Après un an de jumelage, nous nous attendons à observer des améliorations significatives dans 2 sphères de développement chez le jeune, à savoir : les compétences émotionnelles et sociales et les fonctions exécutives. Plus précisément, nous croyons pouvoir observer de nouveaux acquis au niveau des compétences relationnelles, la sensibilisation sociale, la prise de décision responsable, la gestion de soi, la conscience de soi, la responsabilité personnelle, le comportement orienté vers l’objectif, la pensée optimiste, la planification, etc. Ces nouvelles compétences favoriseront leur transition vers la vie adulte, particulièrement pour les jeunes qui étaient hébergés sous la responsabilité de l’État et qui devront être autonomes dès 18 ans.
