Our Friendly Visiting Program matches volunteers with homebound older adults who are suffering from social isolation. We only ask for one per week. A chat, a board game, a short walk with a friend is life changing for our homebound clients. The visiting time is based on YOUR schedule. It's hard to describe in words, the positive impact this one hour per week has on our clients. We have a few clients in Pomonok and are looking for volunteers who are in close proximity as sometimes parking may be difficult (not impossible, but not always easy). Living within the complex of these buildings makes it easier to walk from one building to another. VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED

We are an older adult center and service many home bound clients who are suffering from social isolation. Our Friendly Visiting Program (which has been in existence for 18 years), tried to lessen the loneliness by matching one volunteer with one older adult client, for just one hour per week. In person is preferred in most cases. but virtual visit and phone calls would also be acceptable. This program is very flexible and you volunteer when YOU are available. Days, evenings, weekends..it doesn't matter. We have many clients on the waitlist who would greatly benefit from some socialization. Services Now for Adult Persons, Inc. has accepted the challenge of being dedicated to the needs of older adults. SNAP provides direct services to enhance their quality of life. We also provide coordination of case plans, advocacy and linkages to community resources to assist our clients and to prevent premature institutionalization

Description

Services Now for Adult Persons Volunteer program is two-fold.

1. We help active senior citizens find volunteer opportunities in the community.

2. We recruit any age volunteers to assist homebound and more frail senior citizens in their every day needs. From just having tea and chatting to shoveling snow, all volunteers are so welcome and so appreciated.
