The primary responsibility of the Ronald McDonald Family Room Art Cart Volunteer is to assist in providing a small sense of comfort (and FUN!) for a child or family while their child is in the hospital. The Art Cart has been sponsered by BIC and has a little bit of everything for children or make crafts or spend a little time just focused on something other than their hospital stay. The volunteer would be going to the Pediartirc floor and visisting patient rooms to inquire if the patient or family would like to utlize any of the items on the art cart. There could be times where the volunteer crafts with the child/ family or sets up a small art station in the Pediatric waiting room for families to enjoy. This volunteer would need to commit to at least 1 shift per week lasting at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour. There could be potential to come in and see a lot of families or not see many, depending on the census on the hospital. Art Cart Volunteers are needed Sunday-Saturday between the hours of 8:30a-11:30a or 3p-6p. Due to COVID-19 we have temporarily suspended our volunteer services inside of the program. We would love to remain connected for future and virtual opportunities as they arise! If you are interested, please continue to connect and we will reach out with more information! The Ronald McDonald House offers dinner every evening to visiting families. Community members and groups have certain nights each week and month to bring dinner. At times this is not always available, so our staff and volunteers help provide these meals. You can help relive some of those costs by signing up to participate in our Share a Meal program. Dinners should feed approximately 25 people and can be homemade, prepared on-site, purchased pre-made from a store or restaurant or delivered to the Ronald McDonald House. Dinner is served around 6p.m. each night. Our Share a Meal program is an opportunity for our community to come alongside families in a time of need and show them how much they are cared for. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkoma is "to create, find and support programs that improve the health and well-being of children in Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma." One of the many ways we accomplish this is by providing a "home away from home" for families with children bring treated at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Here we are able to care for the patients family, allowing them to remain nearby while their child recovers. We provide snacks and drinks, shower and laundry facilities and a variety of relaxing and entertainment choices for families to enjoy. We also offer six overnight bedrooms to allow families to remain close while their child is being treated. All of this is at no cost to the families thanks to our generous donors. Please contact the Ronald McDonald House to check for available dates. 479-463-6760 rmhfay@rmhcofarkoma.org
