Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho serves families whose children have a medical need. In order for them to safely stay in our space--especially if a family member is immune-compromised--we need to sanitize multiple times each day. Additionally, we want our House to be warm and calming, thus we maintain a tidy space. With just two hours, you can help behind the scenes with this vital form of service. Help Around the House shifts vary based on the needs of the day and may include sanitizing high-touch areas mopping hallway floors straightening bookshelves putting away donations sweeping the patio The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho now has online registration. Virtual Opportunity
We have opportunities for volunteers who want to support and serve the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho but do not require that you live in or near Boise. Some of the opportunities we rely on volunteers to do are: Provide a meal to the families currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House by donating gift cards or having a meal delivered by a local restaurant. Sew/crochet/knit comfort items: blankets of varying sizes (baby through teens), stuffies with soft eyes, and (sewn) pillowcases keep guests warm, cozy, and comforted both in the hospital and when they go home. Assemble wellness kits to give out to families. Wellness kits include travel tissues (Kleenex or other brand), travel-size hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, and one disposable facemask in a quart-sized resealable plastic bag (Ziploc or other brand). Please be sure to prepare the wellness kits in a sanitary environment. Host an online wishlist drive. Each month we publish a wishlist of items that are running low. You can always see our current wishlist at https://www.rmhcidaho.org/wishlist/ Highlight the needs on social media. Feel free add information from our blog (linked on our website), or repost from our social media sites, so your friends and family can understand the impact that their gift makes. Help us spread the word! Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Idaho Ronald McDonald House. Volunteer shifts are scheduled daily and are generally two hours long for both baking or preparing a meal. Shifts are available seven days a week. baking/grab and go snacks from 10am-12pm (every day) lunch from 10am-12pm (Saturday and Sunday) baking/grab and go snacks from 1pm-3pm (every day) dinner from 3-6pm (every day) Because we serve immune-compromised guests, we have some prerequisites for in-person volunteers. Our current prerequisites can always be found on our volunteer webpage: https://www.rmhcidaho.org/volunteering/ All minors must be accompanied by an adult who has also registered to volunteer. If you get scheduled to volunteer, you are responsible for providing a meal or baked goods for the families staying at the Idaho Ronald McDonald House. You are welcome to invite up to two other volunteers to join you. As the volunteer, you decide what you would like to prepare. All foods must be prepared either in the Ronald McDonald House or in a commercial kitchen. Volunteers can send a recipe or list to check on ingredients, but we cannot guarantee that your requested ingredients have been donated in advance of your shift. If we do not have any ingredients, please bring those items in new and unopened packaging. We have a fully stocked kitchen and carry most of the basic supplies. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho now has online registration. Once you are registered, you can view online calendars for baking, meal preparation and House projects. Each day we try to provide warm, delicious meals and baked goods for families who have children on the NICU and Pediatric floors. It's such a meaningful way to support them so they can stay close to their children. Volunteer shifts are scheduled daily and are two hours long for both baking or preparing a meal.
