Thank you for your interest in providing food for families at the Idaho Ronald McDonald Family Room. Each day we try to provide warm, delicious meals and baked goods for families who have children on the NICU and Pediatric floors. It's such a meaningful way to support them so they can stay close to their children.

Volunteer shifts are scheduled daily and are two hours long for both baking or preparing a meal. Shifts are available seven days a week.

  • lunch from 10am-12pm (every day)
  • dinner from 3-5pm (Saturday and Sunday)
  • baking from 6-8pm (every day)
Because we serve immune-compromised guests, we have some prerequisites for in-person volunteers. Our current prerequisites can always be found on our volunteer webpage: https://www.rmhcidaho.org/volunteering/

If you get scheduled to volunteer, you are responsible for providing a meal or baked goods for the families staying at the Idaho Ronald McDonald Family Room. You are welcome to invite up to two other volunteers to join you. As the volunteer, you decide what you would like to prepare. All foods must be prepared either in the Ronald McDonald Family Room or in a commercial kitchen. Volunteers can send a recipe or list to check on ingredients, but we cannot guarantee that your requested ingredients have been donated in advance of your shift. If we do not have all required ingredients, please bring the needed items in new and unopened packaging. We have a fully stocked kitchen and carry most of the basic supplies.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho now has online registration. Once you are registered, you can view online calendars for baking, meal preparation and Around the Family Room projects. Please visit our website to complete a registration, view calendars and sign up for shifts: https://www.rmhcidaho.org/volunteering/
*All volunteers must complete a registration at least 24 hours prior to their shift.

Description

Since 1988, the family of any hospitalized or ill child receiving treatment at a Boise medical facility has found a home away from home at the Idaho Ronald McDonald House. Families come from across Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Northern Nevada and beyond. The House serves hundreds of families each year that face many challenges with their sick children.

Providing these families with a safe, supportive, welcoming place to stay is the reason the Ronald McDonald House exists. The staff, volunteers and Board of Directors help to meet basic needs and provide more than just the necessities. With the help of all the supporters of the House, families are provided shelter, food, support, and care.
