Overview of Position: Work with community agencies and faith communities to have visibility and presence at events through an information booth. You will help people understand HIV/AIDS and let them know about the mission and the work of TIHAN, and potentially recruit other volunteers. Benefits to the Volunteer: You will help people understand HIV/AIDS and help them to volunteer and let them know about this fantastic agency. Provides great networking opportunity. Specific Tasks: 1. Make sure Booth Box contains all necessary materials and that you have enough materials for the event. Restock any items that are low in the booth box. 2. Pick up Booth Box at TIHAN and sign out the box with date and initials. 3. Be friendly and be the first to say "HI" to people while staffing the booth. 4. Have no prejudice in relation to: gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. 5. Tell people about TIHAN, why it is important to have information about HIV/AIDS and why faith communities should be involved. 6. Help people sign up to be on the mailing list or receive more information about volunteering. 7. Give people TIHAN brochures as well as other informational brochures. 8. LISTEN. Many people may want to share their stories. 9. Pack away all items neatly into the Booth Box and return to TIHAN. Time Required : 2-4 hours per month, as necessary - determined by events for the month. Hours could be on evenings and weekends. Qualifications/Experience: Preferred: Dependable, friendly, out-going, people person. Ability to roll a 20 pound wheeled box and carry the display board and banner. Required: Must be 18 years or older. Proof of auto insurance and dependable transportation. Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Overview of Position: Help carry out the monthly Poz Café luncheon by taking on specific duties including moving heavy items including boxes of supplies and ice chests. Benefits to the Volunteer: The opportunity to work directly with CarePartners and members of various groups and faith communities in a warm, caring, and accepting atmosphere. Specific Tasks : Assisting with picking up, moving, setting up, and taking down supplies for CarePackages as well as ice chests used for storing take-home meals. This task requires the volunteer to be in good physical condition, the stamina to stand and work for up to five hours outdoors during the day (including during the summer). Qualifications/Experience: Required: Must be 18 years or older. Good people/communication skills. Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to consistently follow instructions in a fast-paced environment. Abillity to lift up to 50 lbs and stamina to work for extended periods of time. Preferred: Experience in the dining and/or catering industry. Ability to lead a small group of volunteers from diverse backgrounds with a friendly and patient disposition. Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS.

Purpose: Living with HIV speakers present to faith communities, volunteer trainees, and other groups about the realities of living with HIV and explain how TIHAN has impacted your life. This position requires travel to destinations in the Tucson metro area. Specific Tasks: Speak about living with HIV in group settings such as trainings, orientations, and meetings. Overview of Position: Help keep the office running smoothly by providing general administrative support to TIHAN staff and CarePartners (clients). Benefits to the Volunteer: A great opportunity to use your organizational skills to help staff and CarePartners and the agency by helping with day-to-day tasks. Specific Tasks : Answer phones and greet visitors. Carry out administrative tasks such as filing, copying, mailing and preparing/assembling materials for trainings and other events. Conduct web-based searches and collect information. Assist in creating flyers for programs and events. Write and address birthday and thank you cards. Help keep TIHAN office organized. Time Required : One 4-hour shift per week. Shifts are scheduled during TIHAN’s regular office hours of 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Qualifications/Experience: Required: Must be 18 years or older. Computer skills, including basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Attention to detail and ability to closely follow instructions. Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. Friendly and courteous demeanor over the phone. Ability to adhere to TIHAN’s confidentiality policy.
