TIHAN

Overview of Position: The major responsibility of the liaison is to be a representative of the faith community to TIHAN as well as to represent TIHAN to the faith community. Ideally, the liaison will be empowered to present TIHAN's requests to congregational leadership when necessary and is free to delegate to other members of their congregation.

Benefits to the Volunteer: Be an active leader in your faith community, meet new people from other faith communities, and can be creative in expressing your passion for compassion.

Specific Tasks :

1. Work in conjunction with TIHAN's staff, specifically the Executive Director.

2. Establish lines of communication between TIHAN and the religious leaders and members of the congregation.

3. Represent member congregation at quarterly meetings of all congregational liaisons (or recruit another member to fill in for you).

4. Enlist congregational support for TIHAN activities (educational, fundraising, social, etc.).

5. Participate actively in recruiting volunteers for TIHAN from within the congregation.

6. Make available to the congregation materials regarding TIHAN and volunteer opportunities.

7. Help your faith community coordinate one time a year participation at TIHAN’s Poz Cafe lunch, (including working to recruit volunteers and assist with shopping). This is done in conjunction with TIHAN’s Program Manager.

8. Help your faith community members collect toiletry items for CarePackages.

9. Use the congregation's available means of communication to disseminate information concerning TIHAN trainings, fundraising events, and other HIV/AIDS related community activities in newsletters, bulletins, bulletin boards, and online.

10. Facilitate requests for use of congregational facilities for TIHAN functions.

11. Additional responsibilities to be determined in conjunction with faith community.

Time Required : 3 to 4 hours per month.

Qualifications/Experience : Member (formal or informal) in good standing with your faith community. For effective communication, must have email access.
