Mentor moms with Journey Beside Mothers

Have you ever considered becoming a mentor and sharing your journey through motherhood? Journey Beside Mothers (JBM) is responding to a need in our community to support mothers of children, newborn through preschool-aged, who need the kind of support that families have traditionally been able to give. Volunteers will be matched according to the mother's needs, with a weekly minimum time commitment of 1 hour, up to 4 hours. for a minimum of 3 months. We liken JBM to the 21st-century version of the extended family. We connect mothers with volunteer mentors who are able to care for mother's needs, which in turn helps the whole family to be healthier mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We are in need of mentors to walk alongside these mothers and children. There is an initial 1-hour orientation for new volunteers.

Laundry Buddy with Journey Beside Mothers clients

Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County has been blessed with three washing machines and dryers to support our Just Between Mothers mentor program. We are looking for volunteers to hang out with the women when they come during designated hours to utilize the laundry facilities. We need someone to be there while the mom does her laundry. This might include playing with their children, conversing with the mom, helping fold the laundry, or participating in an activity such as cooking something or making a craft. For more details, or if you are interested in being included on our volunteer list, please let us know. Depending on your schedule, this opportunity could be ongoing for a few hours a week or as needed.

Volunteer needed at A Baby's Closet during store hours

Help moms and babies receive the items they need. Duties include: greeting families, providing customer service, sorting donated items, keeping the store stocked and tidy. Volunteers should have a cheerful, loving attitude and the ability to work closely with staff, volunteers, and customers. Work during ABC hours of 1:45-5:00pm on Mondays and/or Wednesdays.

Journey Between Mothers - help with childcare during play group

Help with childcare for newborns-5 yr old while moms attend a meeting/program on-site. Wednesday afternoons from 1:30-3:30. Childcare is also needed on select evenings. Need credit for school? This is a good way to earn volunteer credit!
