Hey ASU, Looking To Volunteer? Our Child Sponsorship Program Needs You!

Volunteers at Food for the Hungry will mostly be helping our Child Sponsorship Team to help facilitate relationships between children and their sponsors. We have over 120,000 sponsored children in 17 countries all over the world. A volunteer will help to build these relationships by assembling packets, stuffing envelopes, and paying attention to detail (matching up numbers and names) and occasionally they will help maintain our filing system which requires potentially longer periods of standing. Most of the work will be administrative, but without the help of volunteers our sponsors would not be able communicate effectively with the children. Currently we are looking to gain volunteers reading child sponsorship letters and sorting out letters based on communities and other details (training provided). This can be a sit down position. We are currently only able to have volunteers between the hours of 9am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Select Saturdays may be available for large groups upon request. Food for the Hungry volunteers helps end poverty for the world's most vulnerable people. We rely on our volunteer groups to help register new potential sponsors as well as help us to manage a large file of child sponsors. We work daily to get material into the hands of new sponsors. The dedication of our volunteers is life-changing for vulnerable children all over the world. You’ll also find that there is value in volunteering when considering college applications and other character-building requirements. GET INVOLVED The mission of Food for the Hungry is highly dependent on our groups of faithful volunteers. ....what type of work we would be doing? Currently, the nature of volunteer work is in our Phoenix office. We could use individuals with attention to detail as we service over 150,000 child sponsors through assembling child sponsorship packets, stuffing envelopes, and other administrative tasks. We could use your help during the upcoming months as we have shifted our Sponsorship appeal for our Artist Program Concerts and our yearly communication project "Get to Know Me Better" mailing. If you volunteer with us on these projects you will get an opportunity to observe the behind-the-scenes of the transformational work that FH does all over the world. We could use your help! You can begin as early as tomorrow. ....how volunteering, for Food for the Hungry, works? Thank you for your desire to volunteer with Food for the Hungry. What is your current volunteer availability in one or more of the following ways: On an as-needed basis (on-call) Three hours a day once a week Multiple days (2-3 days three hours a day) Specific need? Hello all! If you are in need of a volunteer event for your church, school or work group, Food for the Hungry would be happy to have you! We are a non profit dedicated to reaching the world's most vulnerable. We work in relief and child sponsorship capacities to help build communities out of poverty. Food for the Hungry (FH) is a Christian organization serving the poor globally since 1971. We reflect the love of Christ in short-term emergency relief and long-term community developement to end world hungry.

FH focuses on helping children and suffering communities. We support churches, leaders and families in caring for children. As communities grow spiritually, economically, and in healthy practices, children grow up with hope for their future.

More than 90 percent of the 2,000 FH staff members are citizens of the 23 countries we serve around the world. We partner with the poor and respect their culture.

I found this organization to be very volunteer friendly. They are so good with their short term mission teams and I love the long term staff that they have. They are well planned out trips and are very attentive to their teams.
