We rely on our volunteer groups to help us manage a large file of child sponsors and help us get material into the hands of new sponsors. The dedication of our volunteers is life-changing for vulnerable children all over the world. You’ll also find that there is value in volunteering when considering college applications and other character-building requirements.
The mission of Food for the Hungry is highly dependent on our groups of faithful volunteers. We need dedicated individuals of all skill levels to help us in a variety of capacities. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Ongoing onsite administration duties with short-term or long-term commitments
- Special events
- One-day projects
- Small or large group volunteer projects
Most of our volunteer opportunities are primarily in the production and communications department. We could use your attention to detail as we service over 100,000 child sponsors through the assembling of mail, stuffing envelopes and other administrative tasks and occasionally you will help maintain our filing system which requires potentially longer periods of standing.
You will be assisting our Child Sponsorship Team to help facilitate relationships between children and their sponsors. We have over 100,000 sponsored children in 16 countries all over the world.
Most of our tasks are completed in our Phoenix headquarters located at 1224 E. Washington St. The majority of our volunteer opportunities are Monday - Friday 8am-4:00pm
A volunteer will help to build these relationships by assembling mailings, stuffing envelopes, and paying attention to details (matching up numbers and names) Most of the work will be administrative, but without the help of volunteers, our sponsors would not be able to communicate effectively with the children.
We are currently only able to have volunteers between the hours of 8am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday.
There are seasons when larger groups of volunteers will be needed to help with large volumes of mail. The hours may vary from this posting.
We love hosting groups of all sizes. If you are interested in bringing a large group (15-25) just let us know.
