Our S.P.A.R.K. (Support Program for Art and Reading with Kids) is in great need of volunteers to work with our kiddos grades Kindergarten-5th. S.P.A.R.K. operates Monday-Thursday from 3:15 to 5:45 and focuses on homework help, reading comprehension, art, and creative play. Volunteers are invited to serve as mentors and tutors and will assist students with homework assignments, and increasing reading comprehension and writing skills. Volunteers will also engage with students through crafts, recreation, and game play. During the summer months S.P.A.R.K. extends to an all-day program. The focus still remains on reading skills, but the kids also take weekly field trips. Children are also given two full meals and a snack to combat the increased risk of food insecurity during the summer months.

The Urban Mission has partnered with New View Oklahoma, a local non-profit organization that "Seeks to empower individuals who are blind or have low vision, maximizing their opportunities for independence through all stages of life," to provide their patrons with groceries once a month. We are looking for volunteers who are available the first Wednesday of each month to prepare no more than 15 food boxes at The Urban Mission, and then deliver them to NewView Oklahoma. The time frame for completing this project is between the hours of 8:00AM-3:00PM.

Unbox food and organize it on the shelves. Fill bags with food to be handed out on food distribution days. This position is especially important and helpful to The Urban Mission as it alleviates some of the hard work of readying for food distribution days. Due to Covid, we have reformatted our Food Resource Center from a walk-through setup to a drive through in order to maintain the safety of clients and volunteers. This position is integral to the success of our food distribution days.

Load carts for food distribution in an assembly style format within our food pantry. This position assists us in preparing carts to be taken to our drive-through line on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00AM - 1:00PM. Due to Covid, we have reformatted our Food Resource Center from a walk-through setup to a drive through in order to maintain the safety of clients and volunteers. This position is integral to the success of our food distribution days.

Help load the groceries into the clients' cars during food distribution, run carts through the warehouse to be refilled. The need for this position is great as we have had a significant increase in families needing food since the beginning of the pandemic. This position is integral to the success of our food distribution days.
