Virtual Opportunity
The fundraising volunteer is an unpaid virtual volunteer position. This role will assist with the fundraising efforts to increase brand awareness and ultimately grow our community of donors. We are signed into the North Texas Giving Day (NTGD) and that is an on-goin portal that we can recieve funds year round. We alos have a place on our Post website (vfwpost8235.org) to recive incomeing donations. The objective is to spread our message and encourage donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8235 in Fort Worth. The volunteer must have a good understanding of digital marketing outlets (website, blog, press releases, etc.) and social media channels to promote the Post's NTGD site and encourage awareness and public support. We will provide the infomation to provide to potenial donors.

The volunteer Post Recruiter is a prior service veteran, who designs and implements the overall recruiting strategy for the organization. He/she will outreach area veterans and the military to inform them of the benefits and service opportunities of membership with VFW Post 8235. The recruiter maintains a list of recruits that have signed up and ones that still need to provide eligibility documents such as a DD 214 showing their combat service. Once all documents and the VFW application is completed, it is then submitted to the Post Quartermaster for processing.

The social media consultant (SMC) might create and maintain new marketing campaigns, VFW Post 8235 brand promotions on different sites like Facebook and Tweeter (X) etc..., monitor progress using web analytic tools, and answer directly to social media inquiries, all while using the Post’s voice and the Post leadership’s guidelines. The social media consultant is continuously generating content for the Post, creating new ideas and campaigns, and measuring how effective those ideas are. They work with the Webmaster and other creatives within the Post, like recruiting, public relations, etc. to coordinate their campaigns with other initiatives within the Post to fit in to the overall marketing and promotional goals of the organization. The SMC needs to look at and monitor the latest trends online, making sure that they are keeping up with public shifts in media attention.

Our Veterans of Foreign Wars Post needs volunteers to help deliver our Meals on Wheels route! You don’t have to be a veterans to help out and be part of the team! Our Meals on Wheels team is dedicated to providing seniors with the necessary nutritional support to protect them against food insecurity, and to help them continue to live independent and fulfilling lives. The Post Meals on Wheels Team does this 5 days a week! Volunteering consists of route drivers and/or ride along persons. To drive a route only takes one hour a week! This is because the route is in the neighborhood of our Post! You will be matched with another Post member or patriot from the area who will ride with you and will go to the senior’s door and deliver the meals. You don't have to be a Post member or a veteran to participate in this worthy cause. The availible routes are cordinatied by the Meals on Wheels staff ..we would like you to serve the West Fort Worth area if possible since that is where our VFW Post is located. Kitchen Volunteers Volunteering at the VFW is very laid back and all the people are friendly. Meals at VFW Post 8235 that we need volunteers for is primarly for Saturdays and may be expanded to a Sunday Breakfast as well. Meals are paid for with donations from individual patrons at the time of service. The Breakfast is a fundraisers for the VFW and all proceeds go to suport the work of the Post in the community. All tips will go to the volunteers evenly. The breakfasts can be conducted by individuals helping existing volunteers or as a group from an organization, a family or couple preparing and serving an entire meal. All kitchen volunteers must be trust worthy and reliable so that meals are served consistently and on time. Avergae amount of patrons is 10-20 per meal or less. Volunteer Cooks The Canteen Manager coordinates with the Cook to identify the breakfast menu, food products and necessary supplies. The menu will be very basic and easy to prepare. Cooks are needed for Saturday Breakfast (8:00 am- Noon). Volunteer Kitchen Helper Helpers are needed to take orders, help get the food out to patrons and to re-supplying the Cook as needed.
