Volunteer as an ASL Interpreter with the L.A LGBT Center and foster a more inclusive and accessible environment for indidiviuals in the LGBTQ Community! Why: ASL Interpreters ensure that Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals can fully engage in the Los Angeles LGBT Center's programs and events. Your efforts directly support the Center's mission to create a welcoming space for everyone in the LGBTQ community. Who: The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world; a world in which LGBTQ people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society. What to Expect: Volunteers will provide ASL interpretation during Center events and activities, including workshops, programming, and announcements. Shifts are flexible and can be chosen in advance, with opportunities to work in both large and small event settings. Volunteers will collaborate with event organizers and represent the Center with professionalism and respect. What's Required: Volunteers must create a Volunteer Resources account on the Los Angeles LGBT Center Website and activate it by attending an information session. Volunteers must be fluent in American Sign Language and have the ability to interpret in diverse settings. Certification in ASL interpretation is preferred but not required, and prior experience is a plus. Volunteers must commit to scheduled events as agreed upon, with shifts available during the week and some weekends. This role offers the chance to build your portfolio, collaborate with a professional marketing team, and contribute to meaningful campaigns while gaining nonprofit experience. What's Required: Volunteers must create a Volunteer Resources account on the Los Angeles LGBT Center website and activate it by attending an information session. Volunteer to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ Seniors experiencing loss. Why: The Grief & Loss Facilitator provides social engagement and support services to LGBTQ+ seniors, all of which are free or low-cost. Who: The Senior Services department of the Los Angeles LGBT Center strives to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful community where LGBTQ+ older adults (50+) can come together to learn, connect, build friendships, gain support, and thrive. Our workshops and activities include; support groups, dance and yoga classes, art workshops, writing and poetry, etc. What to Expect: This position supports Senior Services Moving Forward After Loss group. This group is a peer-facilitated, ongoing support group for those who have suffered loss(es) and are interested in exploring life after loss. Facilitate workshops/activities geared for our LGBTQ+ senior community; Create an inclusive environment during workshop sessions; Gather and prepare materials for workshops/activities; Track attendance for each workshop/activity and submit attendance records to Activities Coordinator; Other duties as assigned. What's Required: Tuesdays 1:30-3 pm, In Person Strong customer service skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Able to work independently; Responsible, respectful, and dependable; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientation and gender identities in a multicultural setting; Experience working with seniors a plus; Experience working with grief and loss a plus; LCSW or MFT a plus. Volunteer as an IT Technical Support, ensuring that the staff at the Los Angeles LGBT Center have the technological tools and support they need to deliver vital services to the community! Why: Your work will directly contribute to the Center's ability to operate efficiently and support its mission of serving the LGBTQ community. Who: The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an unstoppable force in the fight against bigotry and the struggle to build a better world; a world in which LGBTQ people can be healthy, equal, and complete members of society. What to Expect: Volunteers will assist with resolving desktop computer issues, deploying new systems, and providing hardware and software support to Center staff. Expect hands-on experience with systems like Active Directory, Office 365, and SCCM, along with opportunities to develop customer service, troubleshooting, and IT security skills. Volunteers may be deployed to multiple Center locations to perform inventory, compliance checks, and other IT tasks. What's Required: Volunteers must create a Volunteer Resources account on the Los Angeles LGBT Center Website and activate it by attending an information session. This is a 2-3 month commitment Volunteers must have a high school degree, excellent customer service and communication skills, and proficiency in troubleshooting general hardware and software issues.
