Mission Statement

The Area Agency on Aging believes all older adults have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of where they live.

residents in long-term care facilities have special rights under the law - and it's the job of teh Agency's Longo-Term Care Ombudsman Program to make sure those rights are protected. Among these are the rights:

* To be free from physical, verbal, mental and emotional abuse

*To have prompt responses to all reasonable requests and questions

to participate in decisions affecting their life, and their care

*To confidential treatment of personal and medical records

Description

Assist with complaint resolution for residents, act as a voice for those who are unable to be heard and enhance the quality of life for nursing home residents.

Area Agency on Aging Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is looking for volunteers to visit nursing home residents twice a month for one hour, to assist with complaint resolution for residents, act as a voice for those who are unable to be heard and enhance the quality of life for nursing home residents. Free training classes are offered every month on Mondays from 9:00am to 12:00 noon and evening class starting at 5:30pm.
