You can make a difference in the life of a child, and add meaning and income to your own life at the same time.
The Foster Grandparent Program offers seniors age 60 and over opportunities to mentor and care for children with special needs. Foster Grandparents serve 20 hours per week at non-profit sites such as Head Start programs, homeless shelters, schools, and day care centers. Paid time off is allowed for holidays, vacation, and illness. If Foster Grandparents meet income guidelines, they recive a tax-free stipend that does not affect other benefits such as subsidized housing or Medicaid. Transportation costs are reimbursed; in some cases, transportation is provided.
