Would you like to share your musical talents and bring joy to others? We are now accpeting new members to our Hospice Music Team! This opportunity is to help individuals and families facing the effect of life limiting illness. Our passion at Halcyon Home is to encourage our hospice patients and their loved ones with comfort, compassion, and dignity. The music team helps with this goal, as the language of music goes beyond words and communicates to the heart. "Music is the literature of the heart;it commences where speech ends." -Alphonse de Lamartine

Our locally owned Home Health & Hospice company is growing fast, and we are in need of volunteers in the South Austin area. Volunteers are asked to provide a variety of things, but most importantly we are companions to our patients. I task my volunteers with trying to learn everything they can about their patients. Find out what their interests are/were, and go from there. Volunteers will benefit from this experience by attaining a renewed appreciation in the gift of life, and how fragile it really is. Being a hospice volunteer is one of the most rewarding, and saintly tasks in the whole world. Do not hesitate to reach out and we will find the right patient for you!

Halcyon Home is a quickly growing, locally owned Home Health & Hospice company in Austin, Tx. My name is David Bregger and I am the volunteer coordinator for the Halcyon Home Hospice program. We are a team of volunteers that aim to help out our hospice patients and their families in any way shape or form that we can. Our hospice agency goes out all over Austin to provide hospice care to all types of people, and we need volunteers to make sure that we fulfill all requirements that are mandated by the laws and regulations of Texas. Some of the volunteer activities include patient interaction like companionship, reading, playing music for, running errands for, and helping out with activities like bingo or playing dominoes. You can also help out in the office running reports, making copies, patient specific binders, answering phones, filing paperwork, etc. There are some basic requirements to being a volunteer, which include an interview, background check, TB test, and online training that must be completed prior to becoming a volunteer. If you are interested in learning more, lets schedule an interview at my office sometime this week or next?

Why Should I Volunteer for a Hospice? Volunteers provide important services to hospice organizations and the people they serve. You can gain great personal satisfaction from knowing that you have made an impact in not only another person's end of life transition, but their entire family network as well. Just by providing the smallest bit of support for these families in need, you will be an important member of the hospice team and remembered by their family and friends for years to come. What Can I Expect to do as A Volunteer? YOU tell us what interests you have, we match with you a patient who has similar interests. Whether its providing companionship to a person in the final months and weeks of life, offering support to family members and caregivers or helping with community outreach and fundraising, the contributions of volunteers are essential to the important work provided by our Nations's hospice programs. Sometimes the smallest contributions can go the longest way in providing support for our patients and their family.
