Description
Are you a morning person? Enjoy helping People? We need your help. The Senior Roll Call Lifeline, a FREE service provided by the New Castle County Police, conducts automated daily calls to its elderly or disabled subscribers living in New Castle County to ensure their safety and well-being. If multiple calls are unsuccessful, a welfare check is initiated.
Initiated in 1995 by Colonel Thomas P. Gordon, the Senior Roll Call Lifeline has been instrumental in numerous rescues of individuals incapacitated by severe injuries or illnesses, unable to seek help independently. The program relies heavily on the dedication of volunteers.
Volunteers are tasked with overseeing the automated dialing system, attentive to signs of distress and answering machines or voice mail. Volunteers adhere to a set protocol until they establish contact with the subscriber or dispatch necessary aid.
Volunteer positions are available every day from 6:30 am to 10:30 am at the New Castle County Public Safety Building, located at 3601 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720. A background check is mandatory for all applicants. Proficiency in basic computer skills is necessary. The role requires no physical labor, just patience and attentive listening.
Interested individuals are encouraged to reach out to Jana Matthews at (302)395-8159 for more information on how to get involved.
