The HALO KC Program Coordinator Intern will primarily focus on developing, coordinating, and facilitating HALO Art & Life Skill workshops that will be geared towards at-risk youth ages 5 and older. This position will be for 20+ hours a week (including some evenings and the occasional weekend) comprising of, 3-4 workshops per week, and office hours at HALO Headquarters. This intern will report to KC Program Facilitator and HALO Program Director. The time frame for this Internship is flexible, with 6 months- 1 year preferred. A majority of this position will comprise of: Collaborating with volunteers & Program Facilitator to plan, prepare and facilitate 3-4 workshops per week. Spending 2-3 days a week in the office working on developing programming based on needs of youth and/or partnering shelters as they are identified. Assisting Program Facilitator with administering program surveys to youth to assess program effectiveness on a quarterly basis. Meet individually with youth to help provide resources, programs and services for their immediate needs surrounding the areas of housing, healing or education. Assist Program Facilitator and Program Director on local outreach needs to expand the reach for HALO in Kansas City and surrounding communities. Other focuses during internship will include: Track weekly statistics and outcomes by compiling information reported through Workshop Facilitation Reports & entry into Apricot Managing HALO Connect Wall as new services and resources are discovered, while encouraging youth to utilize the resources available in the community. Gathering content for Marketing department to promote programs and needs in the Learning Center If desired, internship provides the opportunity to plan and facilitate your own program to benefit at-risk youth. Assisting with special events that arise during the time of your internship Candidates for this Internship must exhibit strong organizational and communication skills. Also be able to work well in a team atmosphere, highly motivated, enjoy brainstorming, and take the initiative on all projects. Excellent opportunity to gain a variety of experience. Update and maintain volunteer sign up sheet, and update staff on in-home activities and events weekly. This position will be for 10-15 hours a week at HALO Jefferson City Girls Home. This intern will report to the Operations Manager. Intern Orientation and Professional Development Intern will attend a full orientation which includes a background check, fingerprinting and a valid driver's license. Professional Development will include: CPR training, and Med-tech training. Trauma Informed Care Training prior to beginning internship in the home. Intern will also attend a weekly Operations meeting. Intern is also asked to supply their own laptop during their time at HALO. Candidates for this Internship must exhibit strong organizational and communication skills. Also be able to work well in a team atmosphere, highly motivated, enjoy brainstorming, and take the initiative on all projects. Needs to be efficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint. Knowledge in CRM systems is a plus. Training provided on all other programs. The HALO JC Boys Program Coordinator Intern will primarily focus on building relationships with youth, assisting JC Boys Program Manager in managing the program and activity calendar, and researching community resources to benefit HALO youth. This position will be for 20 hours a week and consists of 70% of your time spent directly with boys at the program, and the remaining time consists of office hours for administrative and program planning purposes. This intern will report to The JC Boys Program Manager and the time frame for this Internship can either be from 3 months to 12 months. A majority of this position will comprise of: Collaborating with HALO Program Manager to plan and prepare the house for youth and program facilitation, including but not limited to dinner prep, communicating evening plan to volunteers, and transportation assistance. Allocating hours to be in the office working on program development, such as scheduling life skill speakers, youth outings, attending meetings and gaining experience in a professional environment. Spending 2-3 nights a week working directly with youth in the program. Help provide resources for their immediate needs identified during program time. Assist with HALO Heat basketball program as needed. Help capture photos and videos of program participants and any special projects such as the HALO Documentary and special event content. Other focuses during the internship will include: Track weekly statistics and outcomes by compiling information reported and then entry into Apricot Work with HALO Program Manager to analyze pre-and post-surveys to measure success and outcomes.
