This year, make a difference and help to improve someone's quality of life, by providing compassionate presence and care to Kindred Hospice patients and their families in the Seattle/King County area. Come join our team! Volunteers are an essential part of our dynamic interdisciplinary team (of nurses, doctors, spiritual care providers, social workers and home health aides). Our Patient Care Hospice volunteers help to provide support and comfort to our hospice patients and families, by visiting them during a time of need. Kindred Hospice of King County Volunteers may serve in a multitude of ways, including offering patient companionship (such as reading a book, engaging in conversation, actively listening by the bedside, playing card games, singing or holding someone's hand). Volunteers may also provide caregiver/family respite, or light household work, running errands or engaging in arts/crafts activity. Volunteers may also assist with special events such as memorial services and veteran pinning ceremonies for our hospice patients and families. Kindred Hospice of Seattle volunteers drive to visit and offer support to hospice patients and families. We provide free extensive traning and ongoing education and support for our volunteers. We value and nurture our volunteers as essential members of our interdisciplinary team. We seek a diverse volunteer team that reflects our multicultural community. Volunteer trainings occur in our office in the Northgate area. Our patients and families are located throughout the Seattle/King County area. Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years of age, pass a background check, interview, fingerprinting, TB test, urine drug test, orientation training and orientation competency test. Please note that as of 1/27/2022, all volunteers on our hospice team are required to show proof of completion of COVID19 vaccination (2 dose of Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose of J&J). Open application period and interviews occurring now for upcoming training sessions. Trainings have customarily been held once a season in our northgate office. Due to COVID, in person trainings have been temporarily suspended. Depending on county and company precautions, upcoming training sessions may be a combination of online and in person. Duration of trainings are approximately 18-26 hours over the course of 3-4 weeks. To receive application materials or further information, feel free to contact the Manager of Volunteer Services, Jemilla Goldstein at jacqueline.goldstein@kindredhospicecare.com or call (206)525-1090. After your several application materials are received via email/mail, we will schedule an interview (either virtual or in person, depending on precaution measures at the time.) However you choose to spend your time, thank you for the ways in which you offer kindness and service to others during this unprecedented time in our community.
