Unit Assistant volunteers act as patient ambassadors on our in-patient floors. Their main responsibility is to conduct hourly rounding on patients while providing comfort measures and to assist staff with answering patient call lights. Additional duties may include transport and discharge of patients; socializing with patients; transporting specimens to the Lab; taking inventory and filling supplies, cleaning of equipment and messenger runs. This opportunity provides a high level of patient interaction, and you will be trained "on-the-job" by our nurse educators and volunteers. Long term commitment is required and consists of one 4 hour shift per week for 6 months or a total of 100 hours. Shifts available: morning 9am-1pm and afternoon 1pm-5pm

Laboratory volunteers assist staff in providing a more efficient and effective working environment. Responsibilities include: greeting visitors and providing appropriate information and/or directions; maintaining organization of front desk area and waiting room; answering phones, transferring calls and taking messages; transporting of specimens; messenger runs and providing clerical assistance to staff as needed. Emergency Department volunteers provide customer service support to the Departments patients, guests and visitors. Under the direction of the ER Unit Secretary, the ER volunteer will be responsible for: transport of stable patients to ancillary departments, transporting specimens to Lab; patient rounding while providing comfort measures; messenger runs; filing supplies/cleaning equipment and general clerical assistance. A long term commitment of one four hour shift per week for 6 months (100 hours) is required. Shifts available: mornings 8am-12pm; afternoons 12pm-4pm; evenings 4pm-8pm

Administrative volunteers provide support to staff in a variety of Hospital Departments. Under the direction of Staff Supervisor, they may be responsible for: phone reception, visitor or vendor customer service, preparing informational packets, assisting with departmental mailings and general administrative and clerical assistance. Shifts available: Weekday morning 8am-noon or afternoon noon- 4pm shifts available. One four hour shift per week for 6 months is the required time commitment. No weekends available.
