Marketing Communications Specialist

The Dayton chapter of SCORE, "Counselors to America's Small Business", serves small business and nonprofit organizations in the Miami Valley. We provide free counseling and workshops on a variety of business topics. We are in need of a volunteer to join our Marketing Committee as a Marketing Communications Specialist. The position would be responsible for editing a monthly Newsletter distributed to our members and key supporters in the community. The position would also prepare press releases, update the dayton.score.org website, Facebook and LinkedIN. Help us get the word out on our positive impact on the Dayton area.

Small Business Transformation Mentor

Small businesses in Ohio are struggling and need your experience to survive and maybe even thrive. Join the Dayton SCORE team of business mentors. This is a way to use your experience to make Dayton a better place to live and work. Our mentors and trainers help small businesses and nonprofit organizations with: Reinventing themselves to respond to changes in 2020 Developing business plans, including marketing, strategy development, and financial projections Managing people Managing cash flow Improving sales Other activities of our members include training workshops, online and email counseling, marketing our chapter, raising funds, and chairing committees in marketing, recruiting and event planning. Extensive training is available to help you refine their skills and develop new ones. We enjoy the sense of teamwork that exists in our organization.

EVENT and Workshop Coordinator

Help us help small businesses and nonprofits in the Dayton, OH area. We need a person to coordinate Dayton Score small business workshops and events. This will require 2-4 hours a week and up to 8 hours when we are preparing for a special event. Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Constant Contact email, and Zoom conferencing apps is essential to this position. Training will be provided. SCORE has been helping Dayton small businesses and nonprofit organizations for over 50 years and has a dedicated group of business professionals that you will work with. Location in the Dayton is preferred as we are resuming in person events in June. SCORE volunteers enjoy leadership opportunities, public recognition; and professional and personal growth.

Description

SCORE "Counselors of America’s Small Business Owners" is a national association dedicated to helping small business owners form and grow their businesses. The Dayton Chapter of SCORE also supports local nonprofit organizations through a series of six workshops on Fundraising, Planning, Board Development, Marketing, Financial Management, and Volunteer Management. Members also provide face to face client mentoring.

I have been a SCORE volunteer in Dayton for 4 years. I find it very fulfilling and rewarding. The local chapter has several initiatives that I like: BusinessWorx is a coaching system that is equal to paid services that I have seen, and the Non-profit organization training and mentoring is great for small non-profits that are normally ignored by other organizations.
