Every day, more than 5,500 dogs and cats are killed in America's shelters. But every day, there's something all of us can do to help save those animals. Together, we can Save Them All.
About Best Friends Animal Society:
Best Friends Animal Society is the only national animal welfare organization focused exclusively on ending the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters. An authority and leader in the no-kill movement since its founding in 1984, Best Friends runs the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals, as well as life-saving programs in partnership with rescue groups and shelters across the country. Since its founding, Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters from 17 million per year to 4 million. Best Friends has the knowledge, technical expertise and on-the-ground network to end the killing and Save Them All(tm).
With all due respect, readers of Andi P. from Huntington Beach, CA's review should view Best Friend's rating on Charity Navigator. It earned an overall four-star rating and, contrary to Andi P.'s review, earned a three-star organizational efficiency rating. (Both of these ratings exceed those for the ASPCA.) In addition, its CEO is paid a relatively reasonable salary of $121,948, just 0.33% of its expenses. http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3356

Best Friends is the most organized, well-run animal rescue I have ever worked with/for - and I've been volunteering in this field for well over 10 years.
All the staff and volunteers alike are very helpful and passionate about this cause. They have training for all positions and people in place to assist you through your volunteering journey.
The provide a wealth of knowledge not only to their staff and volunteers but to the general public as well.
I can't say enough about this great organization.
