ORGANIZATION: Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society
Together, we can Save Them All

Are you looking for an impactful volunteer opportunity you can do from home that will save lives of shelter pets? We are looking for phone banking volunteers to call registered voters of Seminole County, a high-priority county in Florida with one of the lowest live-release rates in the country. You do not need to live in Seminole County, FL to help!

Phone bankers will be given scripts and call lists and will document the outcomes for each phone call (i.e. conversation notes, left a voicemail, and if the call recipient wants/needs more information or follow up) in the call list.

The goal of these calls is to inform voters of the Change Save Seminole campaign, the newest no-kill campaign working to get Seminole County Animal Control to a 90% live release rate (they are currently at 64%).

Training will be provided for all volunteers.

More about the Change Save Seminole Campaign:

Best Friends is on a mission to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters by 2025. To achieve this mission, we are focusing on lifesaving initiatives and advocacy efforts in targeted communities and we can use your help in Seminole County!

Seminole County has a large homeless pet population. The Seminole County Animal Shelter (SCAS) provides a huge service by taking in about 5,600 cats and dogs each year. Unfortunately, like many shelters, they struggle to find homes for many of these animals. In 2022, 2,083 (64%) of cats and dogs didn’t make it out of the shelter alive.

Best Friends Animal Society would like to help SCAS increase their save rate to 90% through new county policy and programming. We know the community has the empathy and energy to achieve this for these pets, but we could really use your help in our lifesaving initiatives and advocacy efforts in Seminole County!
