Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
ETS/NW exists to serve seniors, living within the northwest suburban Cook County area, who require escorted transportation services to attend medical appointments, which allows them to age in place in their community with dignity.
This program provides a vital lifeline for hundreds of local seniors so that they may get to their life-sustaining medical and dental appointments. The need for this program continues to grow by leaps and bounds every year. Please visit our website to learn more about us: www.etsnw.org.
Escorted Transportation Service Northwest (ETS/NW) was founded in 2006 in order to provide rides for seniors to any type of medical appointment. Utilizing only volunteer drivers, we've now successfully provided over 15,000 round trip rides -- a truly amazing statistic!
How does the program work? An ETS/NW volunteer picks the senior up at home, drives them to their appointment, waits with them, and then returns them home again, stopping at a nearby pharmacy if a prescription needs to be collected.
Interested in being one of our amazing drivers? It's easy, fun and incredibly flexible -- we work with you to accommodate your schedule. You can drive for us as much or as little as you'd like, and we set up our rides at least a week in advance, so there's no last minute calls. You provide your own vehicle; we provide additional 'umbrella' insurance coverage.
Seniors need escorted transportation for everything from chemotherapy, dialysis and blood tests to pacemaker checks, physical therapy and wound care. We cover a 160 sq. mile area in Chicago's NW suburbs: Lake Cook Rd (N), Barrington Rd (W), Biesterfield Rd (S) and Greenwood Ave (E). Hospitals included in this area include Northwest Community, Lutheran General, Glenbrook, Alexian Brothers and St. Alexius. You may choose where you'd like to drive.
This tremendously successful program continues to grow, particularly as our aging population lives longer. We're here to help seniors stay independent for as long as they're able.
