The Volunteer Services Program at Fred Hutch is looking to expand our Healing Music Program and is seeking accomplished musicians. We are specifically recruiting pianists, acoustic guitarists, and similar stringed instrumentalists to provide welcoming and calming music to our patients and caregivers in an outpatient clinic setting. - Provide relaxing and soothing music in the reception areas of the Fred Hutch Clinic. - Volunteer must provide own instrument, with the exception of the use of the electronic keyboard. - Volunteer must possess a high or excellent skill level on individual instrument. - Ideally, volunteer would schedule at least once a month during weekday/daytime hours - weekly opportunities encouraged. Position Summary: Provide wayfinding information and social support for oncology patients and families at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. Patient & Family Ambassador Volunteers work in the Main Lobby on the first floor of the South Lake Union Clinic Building 1. Responsibilities: Provide excellent customer service for patients and families who enter the clinic through the main lobbies. Provide information about Seattle and the Lake Union area, including restaurants, grocery stores, shopping areas, bus routes, shuttle services and recreational activities. Escort patients to floors and appointments as needed. Volunteers may obtain a wheelchair for patients or families, but they may NOT transport patients, caregivers or guests via wheelchair. Assist with requesting taxicabs and special transportation (HopeLink, etc.) for patients as needed. Distribute maps/shuttle schedules, general information on Clinic (brochures, classes). Direct patients to daily classes throughout the Clinic. Answer any questions regarding location in a concise and clear manner. Make eye contact; greet every patient/visitor entering the building. Spend time disinfecting wheelchairs with approve and provided Sani-Wipes while wearing gloves. Make sure there are always wheelchairs available for patients and visitors at all entrances. Respect the privacy of patients and family members and abide by the confidentiality policies of the Volunteer Services Program. Stay alert to all activity in the surrounding area. Call for appropriate resources or security if necessary. Health Precautions: Patients are extremely vulnerable to potentially life-threatening infections because their immune systems are suppressed from chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Because of this, volunteers must abide by universal precaution and infectious disease guidelines in order to protect themselves and patients. Masks are now optional and may be worn if you'd prefer it. Qualifications: Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to give escort patients & families to their location throughout the 2 main clinic buildings. Familiar with downtown Seattle, lower Queen Anne and Lake Union areas. Familiar with Emergency Response system (this will be provided in training). Familiar with Fred Hutch shuttle system (this will be provided in training). Ability to provide empathetic listening, warmth, and compassion. Ability to be flexible and sensitive to the needs of patients, families, caregivers, and staff. Respect of diverse lifestyles, cultures, religions, and values. Ability to work as part of a team. Make a difference in a cancer patient's life!

Fred Hutch Cancer Center is seeking Volunteers to provide courteous and safe airport transportation to our patients and family members. Many of our patients and caregivers come from different parts of the county and around the world and do not have a vehicle while undergoing treatment in Seattle. Volunteer Drivers must be 21 years old, have a current driver’s license and auto insurance; must be a safe driver with no serious driving infractions within the past 3 years. Hours for airport transportation vary and are flexible (week days/weekends, early morning through late evening). Volunteer Drivers use their personal vehicle for arrivals and departures. POSITION SUMMARY: To assist the Physical Therapist and the Physical Therapy department by supporting patients undergoing treatment at Fred hutch Cancer Center. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist department maintenance - clean and put away equipment after use. 2. Assist with department re-stocking as needed. 3. Observe and assist therapist as appropriate during patient treatments. 4. Offer water/juice to patients and caregivers 5. Assist with filing duties. 6. Comply with all infection control and confidentiality policies in regards to patient care. 6. Strive to remain compassionate, non-judgmental, flexible and impartial when assisting people that have lifestyles, spiritual beliefs, and interests that are different from your own. 7. Fred Hutch is currently recruiting persons interested in volunteering at one of our two gift shops -- Shine, located at the South Lake Union House, and the Gift Shop located at the Fred Hutch outpatient clinic. Persons must be able to make at 3-6 month commitment and be 18 years of age or older. No retail experience is necessary but familiarity with computers is preferred. A great opportunity to assist patients, families, staff and fellow volunteers. Two volunteers assigned per shift so a great opportunity to meet other volunteers. Two retail stores in the South Lake Union area of Seattle, operated by the Fred Hutch and staffed by volunteers: Shine, located at the South Lake union House (Pontius & John streets). Vibrant gift shop AND cancer-specialty store open to the public. Provide retail support in gift shop side-by-side with staff. The Fred Hutch Gift Shop, located at the Fred Hutch South Lake Union Clinic. Retail hub for patients, caregivers, staff and volunteers in the outpatient facility.
