Hospice has been praised for being the nation's first coordinated care service. At the heart of hospice are our volunteers! Join our Gateway Family - and be a part of a team of professionals, including Physicians, Nurses, Hospice Aides, Social Workers and Chaplains to provide quality end of life care. There are several ways volunteers can lend themselves to serve patients and families. From providing a listening ear as a companion volunteer, giving respite for caregivers who need a break, helping with special projects, or placing phone calls. Gateway Hospice serves patients and families throughout the Western Pennsylvania Region - including Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland counties. We are always looking for new ideas on how to better serve our patients and families, through innovative programs, such as our 'Life Stories' program, Art Therapy or Music for our dementia patients, Veterans serving Veterans, or friendly Pet visits to patients who reside in nursing homes. If you have a talent and/or idea you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to reach out. We provide training, PPE and other safety measures to keep you healthy while visiting hospice patients in their homes or nursing facilities. We look forward to hearing from you!

America's Veterans have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country. We believe it is never too late to give them a hero's welcome home. That's why Gateway Hospice partners with the We Honor Veterans program to serve those who have served us. Gateway Hospice is looking for volunteers, Veterans, and non-Veterans to help bring this mission to life. Volunteers will lead pinning ceremonies and deliver We Honor Veterans certificates to our hospice patients who are Veterans and/or a Spouse of a Veteran (as they made a sacrifice for our country, too). We love matching veteran volunteers with veteran patients to provide companionship. Volunteers will also be invited to our Veterans Day events and Veteran Ceremonies we have throughout the year at area assisted-living facilities, nursing homes, and senior centers. Please join in on our mission today - we will not be successful without the participation of a volunteer team. We need We Honor Veterans Volunteers in Allegheny, Washington, Butler, Beaver, Westmoreland, and counties. We provide training, PPE and other safety measures to keep you healthy while visiting hospice patients in their homes or nursing facilities. To learn more or sign-up to volunteer with Gateway Hospice's We Honor Veterans Program, please call us at 412-536-2020 or email Suzanne Ferguson at sferguson@gatewayhospice.com. We look forward to hearing from you!

Recently, the hospice model has been praised as the nation's first coordinated care service. Part of the holistic approach to quality end of life care is the Bereavement Program - to help support family and friends after losing a loved one. Join our Bereavement Team! An integral member of our team, volunteers provide companion visits to family members who need a little extra support after losing their loved one. Are you a good listener? One of the best ways to support someone in bereavement is to provide a safe place for someone to share stories of the person they loved and miss. Training and orientation is provided.
