The Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program pairs Veteran Volunteers with hospice patients who have also served in the U.S. Military. Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with each patient thereby creating an environment of equal trust, companionship, and building a bond to help veterans in their final stage of life. What can Veteran Volunteers do for our patients: Assist patients in reminiscing and telling life stories Educate and assist patients in receiving Veteran benefits Take part in Pinning Ceremonies to honor honor those that served before our time Distribute certificates for Veterans Day and other recognition events. It takes all types to care for our Hospice patients, and a quiet, gentle personality can be the perfect companion to help fulfill the end of life journey. Our hospice volunteers provide non-medical assistance to both patient and family by: Providing compassionate non medical care Providing companionship Interaction and involvement in hobbies or activities Reading; Favorite books, current events or Scripture Writing; Journals, letters or memories to pass on to loved ones Healing Therapies; Pet Therapy and healing touch Volunteers are also able to assist family members by: Providing a listening ear Giving the caregiver a needed break Peace of mind knowing your loved one has companionship No experience necessary. End of Life Training and on-going education provided

NODA-No One Dies Alone is comprised of volunteers who are companions to those alone in the last hours of their journey toward death. If you are interested in volunteering for this hospice volunteer position, please contact us to learn more about application and training. Most shifts for this program are evening and over-night hours. A 2 step TB test, background check, drivers license and insurance are required. No one is born alone, and in the best of circumstances, no one dies alone. Yet from time to time terminally ill patients have neither family nor close friends to be with them as they near the end of life. No One Dies Alone is an on call hospice volunteer program that provides the reassuring presence of a volunteer companion to dying patients who would otherwise be alone. The No One Dies Alone shifts for volunteers are generally from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. No experience necessary. Volunteer training will be provided.
