Seattle Humane’s Pet Food Bank collects and distributes pet food donations for pets belonging to low-income families or pet parents experiencing hardship. This program provides nearly 82,000 meals every month! Volunteers are essential to this program, and support by organizing and preparing much-needed supplies for program clients. Location: Seattle Humane - 13212 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98005 Schedule: We currently need help on Thursdays or Saturdays from 12 - 3 p.m. Time Commitment: Volunteers are asked to choose a shift they can commit to every week for at least 2 months, to allow for pre-planning of packing schedules. This role is great for folks who... Can lift at least 15lbs and are comfortable with moving, lifting, and performing repetitive motions for up to 3 hours. Are willing to jump in and help wherever needed. Are self-directed and enjoy working independently.

Seattle Humane's Schuler Family Medical Center is a high-volume teaching hospital that provides exams and surgeries for shelter pets, as well as affordable spay & neuter surgery, wellness care, vaccinations and microchips for pets of low-income guardians. Volunteers are essential in helping us keep supplies and the clinic in general clean, organized, and ready for action. Surgery Pack Wrap volunteers support Seattle Humane’s veterinary staff in our efforts to provide affordable spay and neuter services to low income families as well as needed surgeries on pets in our care. This role includes: Cleaning and packing surgical instruments Cleaning and folding surgical laundry Cleaning surgery equipment Cleaning prep and pack wrapping areas This is a somewhat physical position that includes a lot of repetitive motions with hands and fingers, as well as bending, crouching, and some lifting (up to 25lbs). Prior veterinary experience is NOT needed. This is a great entry-level role for anyone who'd like to learn more about the inner-workings of a vet clinic, while supporting pets in the shelter and our community!

Every month, between 80 - 150 foster families provide care and support for Seattle Humane pets in their own homes. Foster parents are an essential part of our lifesaving work, and there's a whole team working behind the scenes to ensure they're supported, too! Our Foster program staff are looking for help around the shelter on any day Mon-Fri from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. with cleaning exam rooms. This position enables our foster staff to focus on supporting our foster parents and the pets in their care, which can increase capacity of animals Seattle Humane is able to help.

Interested in supporting pet owners in your own community? You can help by delivering pet food and other supplies to homebound clients of Seattle Humane's Pet Food Bank, which collects and distributes pet food donations for pets belonging to low-income families or pet owners experiencing hardship. This program provides nearly 82,000 meals per month of donated pet food delivered by volunteers to families and food banks throughout the region. Location: Drivers needed for one location in Seattle's 98121 area code. Supply pick-up occurs at Seattle Humane's campus in Bellevue, and volunteer drivers transport orders from Bellevue directly to client homes/facilities. Schedule: Flexible! Deliveries can be made any time between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. any day of the week. Time Commitment: Once a month. Volunteers are asked to choose a regular schedule and commit to it for at least 3 months to ensure consistency for the clients who rely on it. This role is great for folks who... Are comfortable engaging with people of all different backgrounds and life experiences. Enjoy helping pet owners in your own community. Work well independently. Have a driver’s license and your own vehicle that you’re willing to use for volunteer purposes. Are willing to volunteer without compensation for gas or other vehicle expenses. Have a history of safe driving practices. Volunteers in these roles will be asked to provide a copy of their driving record as proof.
