Visitor Services Information Desk Volunteer Duties: Assist guests when they arrive at the Museum Providing general Museum information and Map to guests Wayfinding Customer service support during special museum events Excellent Customer Service skills are required; prior customer service experience preferred. Volunteer positions are available 7 days a week during opening hours of the Museum, which are 9:00am -5pm. We do ask that volunteers commit to a time period of 4 hours per week for weekday volunteers or four hours every other weekend for weekend volunteers, for a minimum of 6 months. Long term commitment of 8 months to one year preferred. Applicants able to commit long term will receive priority upon placement. Volunteer benefits include free parking while volunteering, reciprocal museum admission and free tickets for for immediate family members. Spark curiosity and bring learning to life by volunteering in the Field Museum’s Crown Family PlayLab . The Crown Family PlayLab is an interactive, family-friendly space designed to connect early childhood audiences (ages 2-6) to the wonders of nature, diverse cultures and scientific inquiry. PlayLab Volunteers will facilitate a rotation of age appropriate early childhood activities, while also curating a nurturing environment for children to play, explore, discover, and learn. Responsibilities include opening and closing the PlayLab space, greeting and interacting with guests, facilitating early childhood activities, maintaining play areas, and assisting with visitor needs. Ideal applicants have a strong interest in natural science, world cultures, and various art mediums as well as early childhood education. Available shifts are: Mornings: 9:30am-1pm Afternoons:12:30-4pm Full Day: 9:30-4pm.
