YPN is seeking individuals who have an imagination and would love to be the sidekick to a young child! We hold prenatal and parenting group meetings on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. year round and provide on-site childcare for children ages 0-5. This opportunity provides flexibility in your schedule. We also welcome and encourage bilingual volunteers as YPN serves Hispanic, African and Afghan families that speak limited to no English. Required hand hygiene at all entrances/exits and between sessions. All volunteers must complete an application, interview, and a background check. YPN has a contract with the Iowa Department of Human Services to provide volunteers to preform various different tasks for the department. We are currently in search of individuals that can volunteer their time to help with clerical duties. The duties would include: Purge/Shredding outdated files Filing tasks (includes alphabetizing files) Number of hours per week: 2-3 hours for 1-2 volunteers This opportunity would be performed at the DHS Offices, 1240 26th Ave Ct SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404 If you are interested, please reach out to Heike, hwagner@ypniowa.org

At YPN, we believe that giving back is the best way to spread holiday cheer! YPN’s annual holiday shopping week for participants is coming up, December 11-13. This special event allows moms and dads who have participated in programming the chance to select new toys and books for their children, something they might not otherwise be able to afford. YOU can be part of this special week by signing up to be a Gift Wrapping Elf! Two-hour shifts are available each day (Monday - Wednesday) the week of December 11. Join us as we wrap gifts and sprinkle some joy. When you see the smiles on the faces of our moms and dads who work so hard all year, you’ll know how much of an impact you are making. YPN is looking for individuals to help fill a shift in our We Care Shop. The shop is a consignment store for YPN participants that provides necessities to them and their children birth to age five with baby food, clothing, diapers, toys, books, etc. A typical office shift would include accepting/processing donations, stocking shelves, assisting shoppers. We are looking for people to assist on Tuesdays from 11am - 1:30pm and/or on Wednesdays from 1 - 3:30pm. All volunteers must fill out appropriate paperwork and complete a background check. Tasks may also include some lifting. Volunteers will receive training in procedures, filling our donation slips, and sorting donations.
