ALL PLAY Days at Holden Forests & Gardens are when we host one-time volunteer activities that are open to anyone, whether you are an active volunteer with us or not! It’s an opportunity to help the environment, make new friends, try out volunteering for us and hopefully, have a little fun! Plus, you get the benefit of free parking and free admission before or after volunteering so you can enjoy our remarkable forests & gardens. ALL PLAY Green Teens Day - Seed Starting This ALL PLAY Green Teens Day at HF&G is especially designed for teens ages 15-19! Are you a fan of Cleveland's dark, cold days? Many of our native plants need exactly these conditions to prompt germination and flowering! Come to our Cleveland Botanical Garden campus to work with Green Corps, HF&G's high school career exploration program, and help us sow seeds for CBG's collection and for our community partners. Not only will you hear how plants that evolved in our climate benefit from vernalization, but you can also go home with materials to start your own plot of native pollinators! Then join us afterward for a light lunch - and a chance to learn more about volunteering at HF&G and about our Green Corps program. This activity is open to volunteers ages 15-19 only. No experience is necessary, and all tools and instructions are provided. Here are the details: WHEN: Saturday, January 18 from 10:00am-12:30pm, including lunch. WHERE: Cleveland Botanical Garden at 11030 East Boulevard. Volunteers can park in our attached parking garage (the entrance is off of Wade Oval). Just follow the signs when you arrive! WEAR: Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and family-friendly attire. This project will take place indoors. Volunteers who are not dressed in proper attire will be turned away. WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a water bottle. WHAT ELSE: All volunteers are required to read and sign our Volunteer Waiver & Agreement received when you register. Volunteers age 18+ can print it out to bring with them or sign a paper copy that will be available at the work site. IMPORTANT: Volunteers between ages 15-17 MUST print this waiver, have a parent/guardian complete both sides, and bring the completed waiver with them in order to volunteer. NO EXCEPTIONS. Interested?
