Mission Statement

We connect people, nature, and place.

Description

Larimer County is gifted with beautiful and varied landscapes. There are so many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors here on the Front Range where the mountains meet the plains. The Department of Natural Resources works to conserve and manage these landscapes for the benefit and enjoyment of all in the present and the future.

However, there is more to public lands than just simple land conservation. The Department of Natural Resources’ mission is to connect nature, people, and place.

We work to create this connection is a variety of ways. We employ innovative and sustainable land management strategies to conserve key resource values; aide landowners with stewardship of their land through weed management, native plant restoration, and forestry practices and partner with other regional agencies to collaboratively expand our conservation efforts.

DNR invests in open space and conservation easements conserving land for wildlife and native plant habitat, connecting important ecosystems. This investment also provides a variety of nature-based experiences fostering stewardship and appreciation of our land and water. We encourage responsible outdoor recreation for a safe and enjoyable experience for all and provide communities with a sense of place through the preservation of iconic landscapes and geologic features.

And, last but not definitely least, we engage volunteers to expand the efforts of paid staff to maintain & improve our lands & facilities. As a volunteer, you are an integral part of achieving our mission.
