Join Us as a Volunteer for Our Children’s Gardening Class! Are you passionate about gardening and working with kids? We invite you to help facilitate our Children's Gardening Class at the El Nido Farmers Market every Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM! Class Curriculum Overview: Each week, we’ll engage children in hands-on activities that explore different aspects of gardening and nature. Here’s what we have planned: Week 1 & 2: Soil and Compost Week 1 Activity: Soil Pudding Cups - A fun, edible project to learn about soil layers! Week 2 Activity: Grow Your Own Plants - Kids will plant seeds and learn how to care for them. Week 3: Seeds Activity: Seed Bombs - A creative way to learn about seed dispersal and planting! Week 4: Companion Planting Activity: Three Sisters Art Project - Explore the concept of companion planting through art. Week 5: Pollinators Activity: Bee Crowns - Celebrate the importance of bees while making fun wearable art. Week 6: Native Plants Activity: Nature Bracelets - Kids will collect natural materials to create beautiful bracelets. Week 7: Herbal Remedies Activity: Tea and Herbal Playdough Making - Discover the benefits of herbs through tasty tea and playful creations. Volunteer Responsibilities: As a volunteer, you will help set up activities, assist children during projects, and create a fun and educational environment. El Nido Family Centers is now enrolling potential volunteers for their Family Visitation Center program. If you're interested in volunteering with parents and children who have been separated due to abuse and/or neglect, this is the opportunity for you! The Family Visitation Center is a place where children and parents that have been separated due to abuse and/or neglect can have supervised visits in a setting that is conductive to parent/child interaction and in which they can replicate "normal" family interactions. A trained Family Visitation Coach offers support, provides guidance, "cheerleading", modeling and overall encouragement for parents during family visits with their children. The volunteer coach helps ensure a successful, safe visit while promoting parental confidence and competence. As a volunteer coach you must be at least 21 years of age, willing to be fingerprinted and screened, take a TB test, complete a 24-hour no cost training, and must be available 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months. ***NEED volunteers especially available Saturdays and/or Sundays from 9am to 3pm***

Who We Need: Volunteers who can commit to tutoring students in various subjects, including math, reading, writing, and science. Individuals who are patient, encouraging, and enthusiastic about education. What You’ll Do: Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions. Help students improve their academic skills and boost their confidence. Create a positive and supportive learning environment. Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling available; we ask for a minimum commitment of 1-2 hours per week. Sessions take place on weekdays from 4 PM to 7 PM. El Nido Family Centers is currently recruiting new volunteer/coaches for their Safe Child Custody Exchange (SCCE) program. The SCCE program is for children whose parents are separated or divorced, and need a safe place where custody exchanges can be conducted peacefully. The SCCE program provides a safe environment where children can move from the custody of one parent to the other without a threat of conflict or violence. Most exchanges take place in the evening and on weekends at the West Valley Police Station and the Mission Hills Police Station. All volunteer/coaches must be 21 years of age or older, willing to be fingerprinted and screened, take a TB test and must complete an 8-hour training and certification provided at no cost to the volunteer. The volunteer commitment is for 2 hours a week for 6-12 months.
