Habitat for Humanity is building with the community, and you can help! The Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for administrative volunteers! Title: Volunteer Administrative Assistant Department or Team: Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Training & Administrative offices Responsible to: Office Administrator and Administrative/Volunteer Coordinator Works With: Administrative and Restore staff, other volunteers, Primary Responsibilities (dependent on availability and willingness to learn): Printing and copying, shredding, filing, data entry, light cleaning and organizing, answering phones, greeting guests, and general office tasks. Skills/Qualifications Needed: Windows-based computer experience required. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc) also very helpful. Any other office and/or customer service experience is also desirable!

Job Title: Sales Support Volunteer This is a long-term position that we would like to find a dedicated volunteer to come in 2-3 times a week for. Training is provided! Primary responsibilities: Testing light fixtures, and breaking down non-working lights for recycling. Checking donated paint, applying sample to lid, pricing and stocking. Pricing and stocking general merchandise. Additional responsibilities: General cleaning and organization as needed. Qualifications or special skills preferred: Friendliness and helpful smile. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Knowledge of household tools and their proper uses. Training provided: BHAHFH rules and expectations for volunteers. General safety procedures. Light fixture testing and breakdown. Paint procedures. Emergency and injury procedures. Proper usage of standard household tools and construction power tools.

The committee provides leadership for Habitat for Humanity’s golf tournament including the planning process, orchestrating the overall production and providing guidance to other volunteers as needed. Sponsorships - Assist with developing a solicitation plan including sponsorship levels and benefits Establish a list of potential sponsors Contact previous and potential sponsors; ensure sponsors understand that funds must be in by deadline to receive sponsorship benefits Report outcomes and sponsorship status to the committee Write thank you letters or emails, or make thank you calls to sponsors on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Marketing & Promotion - Assist with developing promotional opportunities and create a promotional schedule Work with affiliate staff to determine design and proofing for all promotional pieces Recruit attendees by personally calling or emailing to invite Oversee content and final copy of video presentations, and layout and content of event website Help to promote the event Write thank you letters or emails, or make thank you calls to donors and attendees on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Entertainment & Guest Experience - Work with affiliate staff to select program speakers Determine schedule of the event and overall set up Coordinate check-in and check-out process Recruit photographer and entertainment hole options Solicit for in-kind auctions for prizes and raffles Ensure all guests have a positive experience Serve as an ambassador to Habitat for Humanity Other Responsibilities - Attend scheduled committee meetings Be familiar with the organization, and all resource development/event policies. Be familiar with the event and the way in which proceeds from the event will be used to further the organization’s mission Support the set-up and take-down of the event Ensure all pre-event, day-of event and post event duties are complete Take part in the post-event debrief, during which event successes, challenges and opportunities for improvement are discussed

What will be expected: General construction work depending on experience. Training will be provided. Tasks assigned by managers and leaders can also include loading or unloading materials, securing or storing tools and equipment, use of manual and power tools, cleaning, and more. Experience: We accept all volunteers over the age of 16 with any level of experience. Training for all construction will be done on the job site. What to bring: There is no need to bring extra tools, but please bring work gloves if you have your own. Make sure to wear sturdy clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or damaged. No open toe or open heel shoes. Sturdy long pants such as jeans are required. No leggings or track pants.
