Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region seeks volunteers for their Lunchbox Learners program! Lunchbox Learners starts the last week in October and ends the first week in May each year. A commitment of one school year is required. Volunteers are carefully matched with a preferred child based on volunteer preference and student needs. Each volunteer meets with the same child each week to assist the child with early reading. The Lunchbox Learners program serves children in K-3rd grades. Matches meet one day a week during the child’s lunch hour, which is about 50 minutes. Big Brothers Big Sisters offers Lunchbox Learners program at Kolb Elementary School in Bay City on Tuesdays. *All volunteers undergo a background screening which includes a criminal background check and an interview with a Big Brothers Big Sisters Site Supervisor.* Please feel free to visit http://bbbsgreatlakesbay.org/lunchbox-learners for more information on this volunteer opportunity. *NOTE: While we are currently unsure of the impact of COVID-19 for the 2021 school year, we are hopeful this program can return in a face-to-face setting. At this time, we are accepting interested candidates for the 2021 school year, unsure of what the future of the pandemic holds.
