Birthday Party Assistant at the Butterfly House

As a Birthday Party Assistant, you will be helping the Butterfly House education department create fun birthday party memories for our guests. We need volunteers to assist with birthday party setup and tear-down, as well as the following duties during the course of the party: You will assist the education staff with... handing out craft and Bingo supplies. passing out food and drinks. helping sort waste into compost, recycling, and trash. helping guests with activities. greeting birthday families and their guests encouraging children to participate Volunteers will get training and support during the birthday party. Requirements: Must be 14 years of age or older. Applicants under 18 must have their parent/legal guardian complete a Parent/Legal Guardian Consent Form in order to volunteer. Long periods of standing, bending, and able to lift 25 pounds. Scheduling: Shifts will be Saturdays and Sundays. Morning and afternoon shifts of 9:30-11:30am, 11:30am-1:30pm, and 1:30-3:30pm.

Sand Art at the Butterfly House

We are bringing back Sand Art this year! Sand Art is a Butterfly House education fundraiser. Guests will pay an additional fee (Sand Art is not included with admission) for the sand art supplies. The money we make supports our educational programs here at the Butterfly House. Volunteers will take payment, help guests create their sand art, and assist with clean-up throughout their shift. Volunteer shifts are 8:45-11:30m, 11:15am-2:00pm, and 1:45-4:00pm on March 18-30 (excluding Mondays). All volunteers must make a volunteer profile. Once you express interest you will be emailed a link to create your profile and sign up for a shift.

Bugging It Books at the Butterfly House

We will be having Bugging It Books at the Butterfly House this spring and summer! We are looking for volunteers who love to read books to children and families. The education staff will be choosing a variety of books for our volunteers to read. Each opportunity is an hour long. We would like each volunteer to come in at 10:30am to view the books and get comfortable. Story time starts at 11am. Volunteer shifts are Tuesday-Sunday, 10:30am-11:30am for the months of February, April, and August. All volunteers must make a volunteer profile. Once you express interest you will be emailed a link to create your profile and sign up for a shift. Make sure you select "Butterfly House - Chesterfield" as one of your volunteer interests! Once your application has been approved, you can see and sign up for available shifts.

Become a Butterfly Ambassador!

Role Description: Spend a day with butterflies at the Butterfly House! This is a great opportunity for volunteers who are interested in volunteering in a role that supports a wonderful guest experience but have not yet completed interpretive volunteer training. While PRE-APPROVED visitor services volunteers can sign up for their own shifts, new volunteers in this area should contact us at butterflyhouse@mobot.org. Volunteers assist guests entering and exiting the Tropical Conservatory. You may also be stationed in the exhibit hall at an interpretive "learning cart" or table. You will also be trained to assist guests with redeeming their "butterfly release" near the Conservatory Exit once they are purchased at the admissions desk. Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older Long periods of standing, bending, and able to lift 25 pounds. The volunteer should be able to assist with a minimum of two shifts per month. Scheduling: Shifts will be Tuesdays-Sundays Morning and afternoon shifts of 10:00am-1:15pm and 1:00-4:15pm
