Mission Statement

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is committed to ending hunger by salvaging and purchasing food and other products and distributing these items to charitable organizations serving people in need.

Description

Established in 1982, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is an 85,000sq. foot warehouse with 30employees serving over 350 member agencies. Agencies include hot meal sites, food pantries and shelters, in 8 counties. We are a member of America's Second Harvest - the Nation's Food Bank Network. For every dollar donated, the Foodbank is able to provide 7 meals for those in need. In 2007, the foodbank distributed over 12 million pounds of food. Our food and non-food items come from local donors, USDA, State of Ohio, America's Second Harvest, other foodbanks, food drives and a purchase program that allows us to use financial donations to buy needed items.
