Mission Statement

The Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society promotes the enjoyment, understanding, and protection of birds and other wildlife by engaging people of all ages in birding, education, and conservation.

Description

SCVAS was founded in 1926 and is a chapter of the National Audubon Society. Our membership is composed of nearly 4000 individuals throughout Santa Clara County. Our chapter regularly hosts birding fieldtrips and monthly general meetings and publishes our monthly newsletter, the Avocet. Our two main areas of concentration are education and conservation. SCVAS provides environmental education opportunities both in the classroom (hands-on activities, games, slide shows) and out in the field (wetlands and woodlands fieldtrips). Our conservation programs focus on environmental advocacy throughout the county and beyond.
