Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of low to moderate income families living in the inner-city neighborhoods of Detroit. UDC is seeking talented individuals who have a desire and passion for serving Detroit residents living in the inner-city neighborhoods of Detroit. We have need of help with developing strategies ( community engagement) to come closer to the individuals we serve in an effort to help residents live an enriched thriving life.

Virtual Opportunity
Urban Development Corporation "UDC" is a nonprofit organization doing work in an inner-city neighborhood on the N.E. Side of Detroit. We've acquired a vacant lot for which we want to transform into beautiful green space and utilize for purposes of educational community gathering space. We see this project as an opportunity to educate Detroit residents concerning gainful employment opportunities, and the benefits of the latest computer technology and healthy eating. UDC has need for individuals, churches, sororities, fraternities, corporations and other civic groups to help with the clean-up and beautification of the vacant lot. We also welcome volunteers assigned by the courts to perform community service hours. We simply ask that you suggest days of availability, number of individuals in your group and times of availability to come out and lend a helping hand. Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is a nonprofit organization doing work on the N.E. Side of Detroit. We are trying to bring stabilization, revitalization and sustainability within a 9-block area. We are working at several sites within the area and could utilize a helping hand with a number of landscape task. UDC would be delighted to have some additional helping hands and are calling upon individuals, corporate employee volunteer teams, civic organizations, churches and fraternities, and sororities to come out for a few hours to help an inner-city Detroit neighborhood very much in need. Our volunteer opportunities also offer a opportunity to bond with family, friends and co-workers. All tools and equipment needed will be provided. All activities will be performed with social distancing and the wearing of facial masks. If interested in participating contact us at volunteers@urbandevelopmentcorp.org. We are trying to bring stabilization, revitalization, and sustainability to a 9-block area and are asking others to join in our efforts with a willingness to adopt one 1-block for at least 3-months. It is our hope that our efforts can serve as a prototype for other inner-city neighborhoods to follow. UDC is seeking participation from groups: churches, corporations, colleges/universities, and civic organizations. How can one help: clean-up of the landscape of vacant houses and lots, methods to mitigate criminal activity, substance abuse awareness and the engagement of residents.
