Mission Statement

To collect, preserve, and interpret the history of greater High Point to encourage a sense of heritage, place and community for the enrichment of the public and to learn from the past to build for the future.

The High Point Museum is a local history museum administered by the High Point Hisorical Society, founded in 1966. The museum features public programs, permanent and changing exhibits detailing the history of greater High Point from the time of the Native Americans to the present. Adjacent to the museum is a historical park consisting of the 1786 Haley House (oldest house in High Point on its original location), c. 1754 Hoggatt House (oldest house in High Point), and a c. 1750 blacksmith shop. Costumed interpreters are available on weekends to guide visitors through the park and periodically offer demonstrations of eighteenth century crafts and skills.

The High Point Museum is a wonderful place to visit and volunteer. Scenic setting in the center of High Point, and super-nice staff and volunteers.
